A lot of people seem to hate on her behaviour but I can totally understand her frustration... The generation(s) before us left us with a problem that could kill every living being on this planet and no one seems to care.

Poor people are waiting for the rich to do something, rich people are waiting for the government to do something, and government is waiting for people to do something... I am honestly hopeless about the future of our planet, we KNOW we're going to be in trouble that we can't even imagine and we are still doing nothing.

It shouldn't be a teenager's role to ask people to take action against global warming.

Actually why do they keep getting her to give speeches? Are there no other teenagers wanting to talk about global warming???

Mother of Puppies

I believe Gaga once said something similar to this: The earth is like a rotten apple on a kitchen counter & we're gonna destroy it.

I am all for the protection of our beautiful planet (we need to do something) and it's good that someone stands up for it like she does, but the way she communicates & most of what she demands (or what she blames people for, which doesn't do any good now, because it's happened anyway AND it has enabled a relatively "good life" in terms of clean water, heating, enough food, a roof to live under etc. for the western societies including her) is a bit too far fetched and not doable in an instant. The world doesn't work that way - what she asks for would destroy millions of jobs and therefor people's livelihoods. She doesn't truly understand the way economies work. It's just not that simple. I know, that time is running up and we have to hurry, but we also have to think of the people along the way.

The reality is that we all cannot & don't want to go back to living like people in the middle age. It's like we are all stuck in this hamster wheel and it's almost impossible to break out. How can we escape capitalism? We are all dependant on each other and there are simply too many people on this planet. And most of us are fighting for every penny that we need & she has made quite a lot of money, so it's easy for her to speak like that.

I think there have to be people that influence others in a "cool" way that show them how to have a smaller ecological footprint. I think it's a good thing to ban plastic bags and straws for instance, because there are other alternatives. (But if the US and China & the rest of the world don't do this it doesn't rlly make a difference - this is a global thing and everyone can start on their own!)

My neighbours for instance went to the "friday for future demos" and u wanna know how many cars they own? (non-electrical of course because they couldn't afford them) So there is Mom & Dad and their 2 children (18 and 21) and everyone has their own car (so 4 cars in total) and on top they have 3 motor cycles. The 18 year old could go to school by foot but he takes the car because it's more comfortable and "cooler". This is hypocrisy. (I do have a few other examples and people that do stuff like that)

A lot of people say "yeah this climate demo is such a good idea - let's fight for this bla bla" but then they don't do the slightest thing in their day to day lives that would be better for the planet and make a small difference.

Don't get me wrong: governments and companies have to do something! But it's not just them! We all can and should do our own part to save energy or material, to sometimes go by foot or bike or to buy eco friendly alternatives, but many people just blame the governments and don't do anything in their daily lives even of they could.

(usually the eco friendly alternatives are the most expensive ones and a lot of people simply cannot even afford it)

she's autistic and people can't handle that, they see her as arrogant and rude

the way everyone is making fun of this "how dare you" thing is so triggering to me

feels like school all over again, you're talking about something important, but no one is listening, they are making fun of you instead, because you sound and look funny to them

Yeah seems like they can't handle an earnest confidant girl advocating for justice . Pity, Greta slays. Love you too boo.
