You’re apart of the problem. we’ve been discussing racism for years but they always come back with the same ol’ “iM A dIfFerEnT pERsoN nOW” written by their PR team and then they just rinse, wash and repeat (like he clearly has) the racists of America kept him in the charts for a while after this thing with him started. I’ve done my part by ignoring him (as I feel every one of us likeminded individuals should) up until now I apologized because I contributed to his success by commenting on this thread. After all, all press is good press. If you don’t want him in the headlines: don’t talk about him, don’t buy him, don’t stream him, don’t comment on him etc but everyone just has to be angry (us being angry that he’s racist and them being angry that he’s canceled) I’m a white passing hispanic so I technically can’t be racist, however, racism has been systematically ingrained into my brain along with literally everyone else in our society. So it’s our daily job to unlearn this mess that’s been forced upon us. The best way I see fit (in this specific situation) is by ignoring those in question because hounding them just riles up their base. Then their base riles up ours. So on and so on. As much as we want to hold people accountable for their racist actions, the racists themselves will do everything they can to keep canceled individuals afloat. But like all trends, they’ll eventually move on. And they did. But this Rolling Stone article that’s linked will just make them remember that they have to defend him again. The best thing we could’ve done was kept quiet and let him fade into the abyss. He wasn’t even that big until this scandal came out. So again, I’m sorry for commenting and therefore contributing. If you wish to continue this discussion, PM me because I want him down like you do.
