Is Miley following Gaga steps?

When Gaga started to struggle commercially with ARTPOP, she went the tributes/covers route to re-establish her image as a serious artist. And that made wonders to refresh her career and put her on the spot once again.

Miley's has had a similar situation. After Bangerz, Miley's albums haven't had a warm reception from the public. And she seems applying the same strategy now with her multiple covers.

Thoughts?

Sure, I think there are strong similarities that can be drawn. The art of maintaining fame is a challenging one, especially after pushback. Not many artists have re-established their image while staying relevant the way that Gaga has. Miley is wildly smart and talented and I’m sure she recognized that she needed to do something different, as the same formula wasn’t working anymore.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

I am glad she follows the formula that works. She is talented, she got the pipe. Personally I don't wish she would disappear from music so this is a smart move for her.

The only similarities I see is that both of them have come into their own beautifully.

I think Miley is busy solidify her mark in a timeless manner.

Not really. Where is Miley’s jazz covers album? Or ha AHS: Hotel era? Or ha ASIB meta-moment? Or ha Super Bowl era? Or ha talking serious issues era with Prince William, the Dalai Lama and Dr Bernice King???

Just coz she’s doing tributes and collabs with 70s-80s rock stars don’t mean is following Gaga, although it is a smart move to get away from hip hop and ha Bangerz persona ever since she made those comments about the misogyny within the hip hop industry. She is better suited to rock, when I look back at ha 2013 antics I get so much cringe. It wasn’t ha at all, as much as she wanted to “fit in” to rap it just looks contrived.

I feel like Miley has done what Miley has wanted to do since Hannah Montana ended. She has had the money to not have to worry about if it’s successful or not, and she just did it. She has tried so many genres in her career already that Rock is one of the last, and it’s one that EVERYONE thought she was going to go when she was younger.

I don’t know if she’s following in Gaga’s footsteps, as much as she is following her passions. Miley is a true artist, and one who loves multiple styles of music, much like our Gaga. I think the common thread is their passion and love for music, and wanting to continue to grow as they explore it. Miley said when she was younger that she didn’t want to be remembered as a pop star but a songwriter, and I feel like she has gotten better with each album.
