2School4Cool 6,449 Posted September 11, 2021 Share Posted September 11, 2021 I honestly never understand these music lawsuits, I highly doubt 99% of the artists out there intend to copy someone else’s melody. As someone who writes songs in my free time just as a hobby, I know how easy it is to start writing a song and then realize “wait a minute, this sounds like another song.” That makes it really hard for artists to freely create when they’re constantly paranoid about accidentally writing a melody that’s already been used. Like it says in ASIB, all music is is 12 notes between any octave, and after all these years I’m sure every possibly melody has been used more than once by now. It's worse than Rod Stewart plagiarism scandal, who ripped off portions of Jorge Benjor's song “Taj Mahal and had to donate all his profits related to the song to Unicef after settling a lawsuit.
