Teletubby 144,216
Adele is accused of plagiarism by composer Toninho Geraes. He composed the song ‘Mulheres’ by Martinho da Vila. According to the artist, Adele plagiarized the track on ‘Million Years Ago’, part of the ’25’ album. Since the release, the tracks went viral due to the similarity. The composer gathered evidence and is suing the singer for plagiarism. “I was appalled when I realized it. The melody and harmony are the same. It's a blatant copy” commented the composer in an interview with Veja. source source In addition to proving the similarity, it is necessary to show that the plagiarist had contact with the work and acted intentionally. Geraes' defense intends to show that Adele became friends with personal trainer Camila Goodis from São Paulo and that producer Kurstin is a researcher of Brazilian music. source "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy
thatfoxyfeeling 12,926
The melody and harmony are so basic and simple though? If it was a blatant copy why has it taken him this many years to sue her.
PartySick 154,421
Is he serious? It's like a painter accusing another painter of plagiarism because they also used the color red In the words of the late Jackson Maine, "music is just twelve notes" 🧡The blindfold's off my eyes, all I see for me is better days🧡

NewUsername 11,344
The verse melody does sound similar, but it's not like those are very melodic parts, so sis, it's just coincidence. 14 minutes ago, GAGASEXUAL said: lol, doesn't sound alike at allllll
alsemanche 92,814
They do sound very similar but idk if it's actual plagiarism because the melody (regardless of who's singing it) is very common. Adele is great but it's not like she's particularly unique or innovative herself. Soft, soothing, and succulent
Lona Delery 7,213
i dont hear it? the melody is not the same? and a simple plucked guitar is so common in folk songs so uhm Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

Okay, so that's valid for him, but generally speaking, I see that same statement with almost everyone accusing someone for plagiarism. Ew, David! JINNOCIDE 3,820
They do seem very similar to me idk about music structures but you can clearly hear one song in another and vice-versa. And before y'all come with the "who" posts, this guy is huge in the MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) community in Brazil. You not knowning about someone =/= they not being popular. Probably because they are approached by a lawyer who makes them believe they have a case and wants a chunk of the profits.
