beli8 1,386
I am in this crappy mental state in which I cant bring myself to listen to DOC, or the thought of listening to any new Gaga material in general. My best friend who passed away last year - she and I lived our Gaga fandom together since 2009 - so everything Gaga equals her. Listening to new material for the first time without her almost feels wrong. Like I'm betraying her, enjoying Gaga without her because I'm still here. After she passed, I couldn't listen to any Gaga at all for a couple months. Luckily I eventually did again and it does bring me joy and thousands of memories of the two of us, at least one for each song! So...I have hopes that I'll be able to listen to the new stuff soon, I just need to be ready for it. This forum has been so helpful in making me feel like I still belong as a LM. Thank you all for your constant support!
Nathaniel Arven 1,604
May i suggest u to think of one way to make it about you ? Try to find a place that is your new land, a sound that is purely you. The you that lives without her is a different/new person.
flyaway 15,350
Do what you feel is right rn. Maybe taking a rest from listening to LG can help. Maybe when you go back listening to her, instead of feeling like you're betraying your friend, you will celebrate her life and cherish the moments you spent together. Tyler1992 2,184
I’m sorry for the loss of your best friend, that sounds so, so hard. But I’m so, so happy that you’ve had someone to share Gaga fandom with throughout all those years, that sounds like an incredible friendship! Cherish those memories forever. It’s amazing that different events that have happened in Gagas career trigger different memories for different points in time. Luckily, there’s so many! You’ll be able to go through performances, videos, songs, and hopefully every single one will remind you of your friend. I can’t imagine going into the next phase of Gaga songs without your friend, I usually book that time off for myself to listen. Just know that there are many, many people out there that are experiencing the experience with you, even if we aren’t together And it doesn’t matter if your friend loves him, or Him, they are listening to the new music with you. bambi96 1,545
Your friend would want you to party hard enough for the both of you, as you would them. It's a celebration of their life!
RAMROD 105,661
Take your time, listening Gaga is not a race. You can listen to it 5-10 years down the line and she would still be OK. Sorry to hear about your best friend. Hope you can get stronger with time.
Flawless 2,215
Sorry for your loss. It's never easy to process this kinda situation. It might be recent so just take time from the music and let it heal. It will eventually. the scars on my mind are on replay.
LilyLark 9,935
I'm so very sorry for your loss. If you can, I highly recommend trying to talk to a therapist. Eventually, the things that you loved with your friend will bring up happy memories of the good times rather than painful memories of your loss. The sadness never fully goes away, but it does get better.

beli8 1,386
Thank you all so much. Its true that when the time is right, I will form new traditions and she will be listening to it with me through her spitit that is with me every day. I have indeed been going to therapy which has helped. And this forum is my daily therapy! There is something else that I will want to do someday to share with you all but it is probably going to be a few years until I can do it. Her and I used to have listening parties to listen to the new albums together for the first time while dressing up like gaga. I always video taped all of it and at the end I would edit it down to a video with the new single as background music. I was almost done editing the Chromatica one when she passed. So I have to go back to it to put a few finishing touches on it so I can finally put it on my youtube channel with the others. I just havent been able to watch any videos of us yet but when I finally can I know it will bring more joyful memories. I can't wait for you guys to see it! ModernEcstasy 8,494
I’m so sorry to hear that you lost a dear friend. I went through the same thing through college There is no need to force yourself into listening to Gaga. You are obviously still hurting. Maybe one day you will be able to listen to her and it’ll bring back great memories. Hearing songs that remind me of my friend now make me smile. It’s so cliche to say, but things will get easier.
