Diana The Musical Trailer

my opinion

Spoiler

am I the only one finding this a bit...odd? :poot: and yet if u gave me tickets out of curiosity id watch but feel uncomfortable? Diana is an icon sure, but this feels like they are turning her into a Disney character who wasn't even real, it's a bit weird, it was real life for her going thru bulimia or depression, yet they turn her whole life from her difficult childhood to difficult marriage and her pushing forward to live her life happily, into some kind of entertainment show for people to consume.

This looks like they recycled the staging from the Broadway adaptation of Anastasia. A bit of an odd choice for musical theater content.

What's the deal with the overusing of Diana so sudden?  The Crown gave Hollywood a new idea or something?

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

This feels like something made for a skit, except it's real life :wtfga:

Fyi, nothing will beat the embarrassment that was the Diana subplot in Passions, so... take solace in the fact that there is absolutely no way this can be the worst thing they did with Diana in fiction :vegas:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

I think The Crown’s massive popularity in S1, 2, and 3 really brought the royal family into mainstream American and worldwide media in a way that they hadn’t been for a WHILE. Take that and couple it with Meghan and Harry’s story, the parallels to Diana’s life that many people drew, and suddenly you have a cultural resurgence of the most famous woman to ever live, arguably.

Expectations for Diana in S4 so massively, to the point where she (and the show) became an all out cultural phenomenon once S4 dropped. So I think that general resurgence of the royal family led to a lot of interest in them, and perhaps one of the ones with the most interesting and complex story is Diana, which is why it feels like there’s a lot of media about her. Which I guess there is but I think the PROFILE of the projects really helps make it seem a lot more massive than it really is. Again, The Crown is an absolute phenomenon, Spencer is poised to be a major awards contender and is one of the most acclaimed films of the festival circuit. I will say Diana: The Musical is just kind of there, it’s definitely the least interesting (and by far the least acclaimed) of the 3 😭

I agree, thanks

I hope it just won't overexposed Diana and her legacy, also at some points it may become disrespecting.

I was about to write "omg stop it" but it's not fair for the people who worked for and in this musical.

Yeah, Gaga is changing me.
