Does this mean we are getting reviews next week? Is this premiere the same as the premieres at film festivals that A Star Is Born had?

The museum is quickly becoming the hottest event space in the city. WIF will hold its annual awards gala there next week followed by the premieres of “House of Gucci,” Ridley Scott’s drama starring Lady Gaga, and Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley.”

I don't think we'll get official reviews because I think there is still an embargo, but we'll get early reactions.

there are people on this very site who didn't like ASIB and will pick it apart, nothing can please everyone. Don't sweat it! Nobody has said one bad word about Gaga, and I'm very sure the movie will be enjoyable even if it doesn't turn out to be a critical smash :vegas:

The LA premier of ASIB was about 10 days before it's official release date, so I don't think we'll be getting Gucci's tooo soon... maybe mid-November?

Isn't it wonderful that all the Oscar movies had premieres earlier and then the two that came late at the same event somehow star Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga? The universe really has a way with things. :bradley: Let's hope they take pictures.

I think the two premieres will be at different times.

But it’s likely that if both movies running for Oscars, they can’t avoid each other in the award season. :fan:

There can be, there are still a whole month more or less until the release.

Final week of October or early Nov, if I may guess

Only commercial blockbusters like superhero movies or action films like Fast and Furious/James Bond have more than one trailer, don't they?

I don't think I've seen Oscar dramatic films that have more than one trailer. Maybe there's teaser + trailer, but HoG already skipped over the teaser part to the full trailer.

But that trailer was made while the film was still in the cutting room, now that it’s completed, there has to be a second trailer right? :selena:

I believe trailers are always released while films are still being edit. There's nothing that suggests why a second trailer must be released when the final cut is done. I think the reason why dramatic movies don't have more than one trailer is because it's not possible to create another "mini-narrative" for a second trailer, since the footage has already been used for the first trailer. It's not the same case for blockbusters perhaps because the necessity to generate hype (and hence watching the same footage by the public is tolerated) and collective excitement within the GP is more important than how the movie is perceived artistically... if they forced a second trailer out for Gucci, the second trailer might seem contrived. Imagine having two A Star Is Born trailers, what were they gonna show? Footage from Ally's orange hair phases which was obviously intended to be withheld from us?
