Random, I know, but Love You Like That by Dagny just came on my Spotify.

It’s pretty well known that Katy sampled Love You Like That for her track Never Really Over back in 2019. When she did that, I was introduced to Dagny’s track and absolutely loved it. No shade to Katy, as I love NRO too, but which one do you prefer? It’s really the message of LYLT that brings it home for me…loving someone that f***ing much seems so authentic and cute.

How did I not know this? :enigma: I've listened to them both a lot, but I've listened to Love You Like That more

the way they are literally identical

I was a little hesitant to even say *sample* and not just remake. Very very similar, which is particularly interesting considering it was the lead single to Smile.

Love You Like That. Especially since it's one of my most listened songs according to Spotify. Never Really Over is a bop, too.

LYLT makes me feel something, and it's definitely the overall better song.

But NRO is far catchier imo. One of Katy's best pop songs, and tbh I can relate to its message just as much as LYLT, they feel kinda related in a way. For me, at least, there's a guy in my life who I love and value deeply, and although our relationship ebbs and flows, evolves, takes on different forms (and is solely a friendship right now), it never ends, and it still doesn't feel like it's been resolved. I really like how NRO captures that weird mix of melancholy/optimism/love that come out of relationships like that.

Wait why are they actually the same song? :ladyhaha: I'm usually team "art is derivative, no one copies or steals, get over it" but these are literally the same :ladyhaha:

Both bops though :gayhat: I like the production on LYLT better though.

You're stinky
