Olivia is so charitable she could have said she was inspired by the songs she heard.

"charitable" with multimillionaires :laughga:

50% for good 4 u is such a joke. I wouldn‘t be surprised if Olivia seeked out different producers next Album, cause who knows how much impact that guy had on melodic decisions.

The only one I think is fair is 1sf3sb because it’s a direct interpolation

g4u & deja vu are a reach

this is the thing with olivia... her music's good and she's a great lyricist but realistically, she's not bringing anything new or remotely original to the table. that's my one issue. she'd be amazing if she started branching out (which i'm sure she will) but sour just feels like a tribute album.

Oh come on, she's just getting started.

Every artist starts by emulating the artists that have inspired them. As time goes by, they develop their true artistic brand. She's still a 18 yo figuring out her path. In a way, I find Hayley Williams and Taylor Swift to be petty and greedy over a young artist who's inspired by their music.

Hayley said she didn't even know she was being given a credit until she saw it on the news

Yeah, but then proceeded to share it on insta as a big achievement. Doesn't seem very nice of her and her agents.

It doesn't come as a surprise from Taylor $wift who's always chasing money, but I expected more from Hayley.

This is what she did.
Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff and Clark have been given co-writer credits on Olivia Rodrigo's song "Deja Vu" after Olivia Rodrigo spoke about how influential Tay's "Cruel Summer" bridge was on the song.

yeah. I wonder whether it was Taylor’s camp and paramore’s camp who contacted Olivia to ask for compensation. It’s honestly ridiculous

she literally interpolated melodies, if the similarities weren't this evident non of this would've happen lol

except for how she literally did not. neither good 4 u or deja vu uses the melodies of those songs she has credited. they just have a similar sound. copyright limit for melody is 7 notes in a row or less, if you use 8 or more that is melody theft. neither song used 8 or more notes.

this makes me sad, such a strange case

i mean, i heard about this type of cases in the past but what is happening to her is so savage :saladga:

my god, stop denying the facts... interpolation is not copying note for note a melody, that would be silly.

they just used the same chord progression, it's not an interpolation, don't put it on the same bag, it is also similar to sympathy for the devil or a lot other 80's songs, gaga was literally condemned for not using the pop I V VI IV progression and making something different no one was doing that could only be traced from thirty years before in pop music, The Irony!

In any case it interpolates I was born this way from the priest which she gave fully credit for

when did i said that she "plagiarized" misery business? i said it INTERPOLATED the melodies and that's why they had to give them credit against you saying they "just sound similar" and that's it.
he adds a lot of arguments to say it practically is the same song, yeah, and that's fine, but let's call thing by their name

of course i watched it.
