Teenage Dream is a very fine album, but there have been plenty of superior - or at least equal - pop albums before and since.

She didn't lie. If she had said Prism I would have been a little suspicious. 

I don't understand why people get so upset with that statement. Gaga hasn't had a pop album. They are all pretty much EDM or a mixture of dance electro. It has never been pop. 

I still don't even know why people classify her music as pop.

I think it has to do with the pop will never be low brow glasses she wore once a trillion years ago.

I don’t like Katy’s music that much but Teenage Dream is really a great pop album. They did a great job.

pop is a very loose term nowdays, gaga call herself a pop artist and call what she does pop music, because she makes music in a grand commercial scale and intended to be catchy and stuck in the collective's mind, but she had always her way of making pop music, she has never shaped her artistic vision of pop music by being subtle or condescending to mass appeal her music to all types of public, hence she was very divisive the beginning of her career, not only because of her music but because of everything.

To me a perfect pop album is not the most commercially successful and accepted by everyone, but the more challenging and equally hated and loved, that cause an impact in the collective's mind, the thing that distinguished gaga was is that she took pop music seriously when everyone else didn't.
