Khloe slammed for saying she can't stand people who complain abt being fat

She isn’t being fatphobic but she is only really speaking from her own privilege and how she overcame her problems. There are lots of people struggling with their health and weight who live in circumstances that aren’t conducive to ever fixing it, especially income. It’s not always about being active or cutting calories. Many people in America (where obesity is a problem) eat to live and get food at convenience while they aren’t working.

I guess I'll be the contrarian here - what she's saying isn't wrong per se, but... I'm yet to meet a fat person who is complaining about their weight while eating a bucket of Haagen Daz and not trying AT ALL to make changes to their lifestyle, and I'm willing to bet Khloe has never met a person like that either...

The fat person she talks about is rooted in perception of fat people rather than actual reality - fatphobia can manifest itself as seeing overweight people as lazy and dishonest, and from that perspective, I can see how someone would be upset with what she said - nobody is confused about how to lose weight... That statement wasn't necessary, nor particularly helpful - we've all heard the 'eat clean, drink water, diet is more important than exercise' before...

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

Y'all lack a huge amount of empathy.

Please remember that it isn't always "easy" for someone to change their weight - people with disabilities, people with certain eating disorders including binge eating disorder, people who live in food deserts, people who are too poor to eat healthy food. Let me not forget: people with certain medical conditions, people on certain medications that cause weight gain (such as those for mental health issues), I could go on.

Check your own privilege, not just Khloe's.

She’s using the very basic talking point of “fat people are lazy and they just need to loose weight”. I don’t think most fat people are unaware of the fact, the vast majority  of us know it’s unhealthy, but its a very different thing to START a weight loss journey, and being able to MAINTAIN weight loss.

I have been at different weights throughout my life, cumulatively I think I’ve lost close to 100kg’s, losing the weight and gaining it back over and over again, through a lot of work, pain, depression, mental anguish and hurt. And I am back to being fat again. And I don’t think most people would realise looking at me now that I’ve lost over 100kg’s, so I guess all the effort I put into losing all that weight before is still me being lazy huh? I guess my mental state doesn’t count? Does it matter that I work out 5 days a week and eat healthy but my stress levels keep me from losing the weight? Am I still lazy Khloe?

People gain weight/ relapse and gain weight back/ for a multitude of reason, you can’t just look at someone and just assume that they’re just being lazy and doing nothing. Chances are, there’s a lot more going on that meets the eye, and the last thing they need is for people will all the money in the world judging them and telling them they’re just being “lazy”.

No one is doing that though, eating a tub of ice cream and wondering why they're fat.

Overweight and obese people are well aware of their unhealthy habits yet they feel compelled to continue. It is akin to a drug addiction.

This oversimplification / caricaturization doesn't really do anything to help anyone.

My dad was fat and he was well aware of that fact. It made him sad and insecure, but he just couldn’t get himself to do anything about it. The only thing he did was stop drinking soda, but that doesn’t do much if the rest of your diet is, tbh, garbage. We all, me and the rest of our family, encouraged him and nothing happened.

The thing is, he was stressed tf out. He didn’t have a lot of money, had to work overtime, had two kids to take care of. He just didn’t have the time or energy or surplus to also focus on loosing weight however much he wanted to do so. He was also used to eating unhealthy from early childhood, it was like an addiction for him that he just couldn’t kick.

The point is, fat people know that they are fat and they are not indifferent to it. But it’s not always as easy as just getting up and loosing weight. For some people it’s really hard.

I see nothing wrong with what she said, some people always talk about losing weight but make no effort and then they eat crap after crap and complain about their health, for example arthrose issues, not being able to walk for a long time because bones hurt or articulations, breathing problems etc

Obviously this doesnt apply to people who are fat and happy and content with their weight

I dont think when people talk about this particular situation that they are thinking of those who don't have enough money or illnesses, mental or physical, but mostly about people who have none of those, have the privilege to feel healthier but don't do it and decide to use excuses to avoid doing the work. It's just logical to me that it doesnt apply to certain categories bcs of circumstances that dont make it easy for them to do any kind of change. It's the ones who can change but don't do it

I think the point she’s making is you can’t perpetually complain about something whilst ignoring the obvious solutions to said problem. The issue around using weight loss to make that point, like other people have mentioned, is that it’s not always achievable for everyone for a variety of reasons.

However, I can talk from my own experience that I was 100% the other type of person she’s referring to in this. The person that has the power to make positive changes in their life but chooses not to, but will then complain about their life being a problem anyway. For the vast majority of people they’re in that boat too. What she’s talking about is making the effort, and most people would rather complain.

Not the bore worms!

What she said has some true parts concerning taking the power in your hands but it misses the point that that's really not as easy as it sounds. Mental health problems can make this impossible. And not everyone has millions of dollars and doesn't need to worry about anything other than their health. I only was able to start taking care of my body very recently when I started making decent money.

Yeah I didn't really mention this cuz... I try not to talk about binge eating but people don't seem to understand that it is very much a disorder - you wouldn't tell a drug addict to just get over it (well, maybe some would)...

Granted not everyone who is overweight is using it as a cope, but I think a lot of people do and its not as easy as 'oh, you just make a lifestyle change' - think, people - if it was that easy, wouldn't more people be doing it?

Binge eating is there to ease some kind of pain, so when you try to push it out, that pain swallows you - you are left in a perpetual state of misery, crushing anxiety, loneliness and guilt and those feelings linger for a while, often not leaving at all...

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

The amount of people agreeing with her... I have to laugh but im mostly disgusted.

Y'all are fully not taking into account ANYTHING other than a "just do it!!!" attitude, which is pure BS. I've been hating my body for ages (even though I'm not exactly "fat" or whatever, I've actually been hating it ever since I was underweight a few years ago and even more now that I've gained weight) but I have also not been able to JUST DO IT OR STOP COMPLAINING!!!! because that's not how sh*t works. And it makes everything a hundred times worse when I have some idiots screaming at me that they can't stand my attitude because I'm simply refusing to have a better body that I want. f*ck off with that idiotic sh*t. There's 500 factors that play a role, majorly including mental health but also physical health and conditions. Telling people to stop complaining if they don't put in effort is f*cked up to say the least. But sure she's spitting straight up facts!!!! I hope y'all never experience being trapped in a body that you can't f*cking stand and not being able to get yourself to change it because trust me, it f*cking destroys you.

And let's not forget the amount of money and privilege she has lmao

These claims come from someone who's been labeled "the fat sister" the moment she stepped into the public eye. We all saw how self-conscious she was about it on the show, always struggling to loose weight, and we even saw Caitlyn Jenner shaming her.

So now that she's fit and lost all this weight, makes the "Revenge Body" show, and begins this speech with "I hate the people that-" shows no pride in her own achievements, but pushes further the shame she had for herself and her self-esteem. I wouldn't say it's "fatphobic", but it's pretty ignorant to pigeonhole everyone's struggles into the "making up excuses" category.

She spoke 100% facts and her personal situation having personalized programs for herself is irrelevant to the point she is making.

Mmmmm I think it is relevant because it’s easy to say when you’re a multi millionaire that it’s just about your mindset and “doing it yourself”

she did not do that. Don’t speak on what you don’t know.
