U.S. "saddened" after U.S. drone strike kills civilians

U.S. Central Command has issued an official statement following reports that its Kabul airstrike killed multiple civilians, including six or more children.

And people keep saying that drone strikes are 'safer' than physical interventions.

I wonder what the cost-risk analysis was like. Did Biden and his SoD accept x civilian casualties because they thought it would prevent x+100 civilian lives, for example?

Imagine this happened in the US? There would be outcries, memorials made, world leaders would condemn the attack, and we would all change our profile pictures to say something along the lines of "Stay strong ____". But since this killed some kids in Afghanistan, I guess no one cares and we will carry on with our lives. All this is doing is breeding hatred for America in a new generation of Afghanis. This is not at all a step in the right direction.
