a list of her accomplishments and memorable 'cultural' moments does not explain how she's "innovative." even the points listed on this wiki are things some celebrities before her were already known for.

If a wiki page outlining Madonna's historically noted cultural impact across her career isn't enough for you to explain how she's been 'innovative' all throughout her career, maybe try Google Scholar. :billie: There's plenty of academic writing on Madonna from this and last century digging quite deep into her career and the importance and meaning of her work.

Madonna's impact and influence is part of pop culture History and will remain so.

Prince of Pop shouldn't be given to one of the laziest and most boring artists of our time... that title also should go to a male artist who's career isn't made of pitch demos but rather songs written by themselves.

examples of her innovation are so abundant, yet no one has listed a single one. only referrals to a wikipedia page literally co-written by fans, that doesn't actually mention said 'innovations'.

she's worked with a lot of innovative people, i'll give her that.

Speak Easy

Janet Jackson is a close second...but the fact this generation sleeps on Madonna is a shame. Her influence is in every pop girl's dna.

Janet's influence is not in every pop girl's dna. I don't see Meghan Trainor or Jessie J or Billie Eilish or Lorde having any solid influence from Janet. But name a pop girl that wouldn't say Madonna influenced them?

Name one.

I'll wait.

Also Gaga deserves a crown at this point but it's hard to place her because she is so diverse. Maybe:

Yes, let's dismiss the woman at the helm and give all the laurels to the collaborators. Typical playbook response. Like, Gaga's innovation with Bad Romance is all down to RedOne. Such a ridiculous comment, verging on misogyny.

Why should we go around and do that work for you? The wiki page shared is not simply written by fans, and quotes media coverage and academic writing over the past 4 decades. If you were actually interested and wanted to learn about her impact and influence, you would go out and do your own research. What becomes clear from your comments is that you always go about finding a way to dismiss everything everyone says -- the collaborators response is an example of your dismissive bias.

I can give you plenty of examples of her innovation, but her innovation goes beyond key moments. One of them is for example the Blond Ambition Tour, which set the blueprint for the modern pop concert -- plenty of writing out there about that, but I'm sure you can find a way to dismiss it.

From the 1980s onwards and during her imperial phase, Madonna pretty much invented contemporary pop fame, so there is a little bit of her in the DNA of every modern pop thing, and that's something not defined by delusional fans, but by her mark in pop culture's history.
