PartySick 154,688
Michael Jackson, the undisputed King of Pop, one of the greatest entertainers to ever live, was born this day in 1958 to Joseph and Katherine Jackson in Gary, Indiana. From taking the lead vocal position in the Jackson 5 at the age of six in 1964 to dazzling us with rehearsal footage from 2009 at the age of 50, he's captivated crowds and won the hearts of millions with his electric dance moves, breathtaking music, and constant innovations. He changed what it means to be an entertainer. Now, artists such as our own Lady Gaga, BeyoncĂ©, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Britney Spears, Akon, Drake, BTS, and hundreds of others are influenced and inspired by the King. His spirit lives on in their every work. His passion still paints a vivid color over the music industry as a whole. His soul still wraps every note in the finest of silks. I was introduced to Michael's work at such a young age, I don't remember a time before I was a fan. I was in preschool singing the Jackson 5 and James Brown exclusively, listening to the E.T. Story Book on my grandma's record player, and wearing out the VHS tape that had the J5 on Cher's show  then I fell into his older work. Today, Dangerous and HIStory are the albums that fight for my #1 spot. Dangerous because it's the single best piece of musical work I've ever heard and it introduced me to New Jack Swing (a hell of a genre ). And HIStory because of how personal it is to Michael. He always put his soul in his music but never has that soul been so twisted with pain, paranoia, betrayal, and anger. It's raw and honest. I've collected a few of my favorite MJ things to share here. Music videos, performances, or "slice of life" moments  Feel free to share your own experiences, thoughts, memories, or feelings about Michael. MJ's home videos and funny moments Spoiler  My favorite performances Spoiler  My favorite fan mixes and videos Spoiler (This one makes me want a nature documentary narrated by Michael )   How were you introduced to him? What's your favorite song? Your favorite album? Your favorite dance move? The best memory you have including him? Is he just an entertainer to you? Or do you like the man himself? Has he inspired you to "make that change"? Have you ever tried to dance like him? (be honest ) Can you dance like him? Let me just answer this one real quick The first dance moves I learned to do from watching him was the popping and locking style he shows off when performing Stranger in Moscow  This video would have gone under "favorite performances" but it's a mashup of many HIStory Tour shows   đ§ĄThe blindfold's off my eyes, all I see for me is better days𧥠Link to post Share on other sites
Guest
Happy Birthday, King of Pop and Halloween!  To answer the questions; When I was VERY young I heard âBeat Itâ on the radio and fell in love with it. My top 5 favourite MJ songs are âThrillerâ, âGhostsâ, âThreatenedâ, âIs It Scaryâ and âBeat Itâ My favorite album would be âThrillerâ or âBadâ. My favourite dance moon is probably the iconic moonwalk, itâs basic but itâs timeless. My best memory would probably when I first discovered his music on the radio driving around with my dad in his car. Heâs not just an entertainer, heâs a human being. I love him all around from his personality to career. He certainly has inspired me, as well as Gaga has, to celebrate kindness and bring light into the world. Yes, I tried to dance like him and failed. Many, many times. And no, I canât. And no, I wonât demonstrate. Lol

Anderson123 37,677
The only one King of Pop. I can't believe he's been gone for 10 years. For those who didn't watch it, Madonna opened the VMAs ten years ago with this speech:

Franch Toast 26,384
My favorite MJ songs are Human Nature and Man in the Mirror. I have no idea how I was introduced to him, but I have a distinct memory of sledding with my cousins when I was a kid, and then my aunt's husband took us to McDonald's and we got chicken McNuggets, and my cousin was singing Man in the Mirror. I also recall being terrified by the Thriller video as a child.  She/Her/Hers
