Unvaccinated teacher infects half her students with covid (delta)

That makes sense to me, but at the same time there's evidence out there that is showing the effectiveness of the vaccinations are decreasing over time, there's also evidence that certain vaccines are having little/no effect with the delta variant. That’s partly due to the fact that the current iterations of the vaccine were produced to combat COVID-19, not the delay variant. Had enough people been vaccinated, the delta variant most likely wouldn’t be an issue right now. Viruses are smart, they adapt to things that want it dead so since we didn’t get enough people vaccinated, it mutated and now is causing issues for those are are vaccinated.

Didn’t the delta variant originate from India though? Where - today - only 10% of the population are fully vaccinated? As I understand, there is always going to be the likelihood of mutations and variants when vaccination rates greatly differ in countries across the world.

Ridículous that in California its not obbligatory to presente a certified of being vaccinated or at least a 24h to 48 covid test. Like thats the least one should do.

We know that it was first identified in India, but we do not know where it actually originated/mutated. Despite this, further mutations are bound to happen if people do not get vaccinated,  mutations are likely and possible until a population reaches  heard immunity.

Exactly my point though, we need to be supporting countries who do not have the infrastructure in place to roll out vaccinations quickly. That's mainly where the danger lies with new variants. Pointing fingers at individual people like this doesn't really get us anywhere

If I remember correctly Biden is planning to send off unused vaccines to other countries.  
 

and I believe pointing fingers generally doesn’t do much tbh BUT this teach should be held accountable for (1) endangering her students lives, (2) going into work with known symptoms, and (3) not wearing a face covering despite her symptoms. It’s a slap in the face to kids who may not be able to be vaccinated.

This needs to be used to set an example and show real-world proof of how easily the virus spreads and under what types of circumstances.

Yes, we should be trying to get vaccines to other places in the world to prevent further mutation. AND yes, we should be calling people out when they are in a position of power and responsibility and endanger those around them, especially vulnerable children. The government can handle the former and the media can handle the latter. They aren't mutually exclusive. And if this story teaches just ONE person that they should be more careful, then it has been helpful.

The teacher failed not once, but three times - not getting vaccinated, not wearing a mask, AND not self-isolating when showing symptoms.
