It specifies that: "when she contracted the Covid-19 Delta variant", meaning she was infected with the virus.

Before or after the incident just wondering because if she went to work knowing she has covid than she should indeed be ashamed of herself

Don’t get me started. But most of my district doesn’t believe covid is real or that their kids should wear masks.

One more reason to be in the back of the class.

No, but for real, why are unvaccinated people allowed to teach when that is one of the professions with the most risk of contagion, and that deals with children who aren't able to be vaccinated to protect themselves and their families.

Because the teacher shortage is extreme. Schools are literally hiring anyone with a degree at this point.

Obviously before, she had symptoms and still went to work without a mask then infected others

With how fast delta is spreading, restrictions easing and kids not being vaccinated any teacher who refuses a vaccine shouldn't be allowed to teach. But then again common sense seems to be rare these days :saladga:

This woman still went to school when she had symptoms and she even had the nerve to take off her mask. :saladga:

Vaccinated or not, always keep your mask on expecially if you have symptoms !

is delta new to the US? I'm suddenly hearing loads about it

It's been here in the UK since like April so I sorta just assumed it was everywhere then as well

I understand that.

But the school needs to look into solutions. If the teachers aren't vaccinated, maybe arrange some kind of no-contact deal for those teachers until they do.

On another note, here in Portugal (a different case, I know) the whole teacher situation has always been a joke. There's also extreme "teacher shortage" but at the same time there's a lot of unemployed teachers, which just shows that the schools aren't hiring them and then complain there's shortage as an excuse to take the responsibility off them. On top of that, teachers can be placed anywhere in the country EVERY YEAR, which makes it very difficult for them to build a personal life. So you have situations of people moving from the south to the north one year, then the next year they get sent to the south again, or worse, the islands. And meanwhile, there's teachers moving on the opposite direction. It makes no sense.

If the teacher was vaccinated, would that have prevented any spread?

Half of my colleagues have tested positive this week and they’ve ALL been vaccinated. I am no way anti-vaccine but at the same time, people need to understand that the vaccine still does not stop transmission.

The vaccine does not 100% prevent transmission but significantly decreases the chance of transmitting to others it if you happen to become infected.

Sorry, but why is this one person signalled out above all the other thousand people infecting others?

I am all for anti-vax shaming and trying to get everyone informed. But this demonization of others is a bit much... And counter-productive. People who don't believe in the virus, obviously do not intend to harm anyone.
