Yeah. But "winner energy" is an abstract based on subjective impression which is subject to implicit bias. It's terrifying. Fat people don't get what they deserve so much in life because people just don't think we seem like a "good fit" or we just don't give them that "good feeling" they have from other candidates. And no one wants to think about how body type plays a role in those abstract subjective impressions. I promise you it does.

Sorry but I didn’t quite understand your point here. :ohno: But I understand that fatphobia is a real issue and it should be discussed.

The issue with Drag Race is that RuPaul is probably the one who has the final say in every decision. If the winners were chosen by a group of people, maybe there could be more variety among the winners.

It won't let me pick two people. Ra'Jah and Kylie. So I went with Ra'Jah. If I can vote again I'd vote Kylie.

Ru is actually only one of quite a few producers and decision makers. There’s a lot of people that have a say in things. He also leaves the set after a lip sync to discuss who to send home with the other producers (which has been confirmed by a lot of contestants).

Peppermint auditioned not as a trans woman as I remember, I think she came out after the show, because production wasn’t really into letting trans girls competing at that time sadly :fatcat:

Gia was on all stars, I was talking about regular seasons, but you'r right

Peppermint came out I think during the filming on the show to her castmates and the story/narrator producer (the one you talk to in the interview)

Gia, on the other hand, I'd like to see and know what really went down on AS4 because many people (herself included) said she had a very heated discussion with Ru on the runway but it wasn't aired and little tea was spilled about it. Allegedly Gia called Ru out on what he said about-

Peppermint was a known trans drag legend in NYC years before appearing on Drag Race actually. The queens on S9 told fans that they talked about it before the scene where she ‘came out’ to the other queens and that producers made her wait until they can film it properly and make it fit into a storyline.

Messed up, but that’s reality tv for you. :smh:

Yeah it's RuPaul's Drag Race but not really RuPaul's because of the producer input.

In S4 Jiggly received her hotel check-out notice the day before the runway, so she knew she was being eliminated that day.

Absolut Vodka stopped sponsoring Drag Race because they wanted Roxxxy Andrews to win but Ru (producers?) wanted Jinkx.

Before S6 started filming a contestant (I think Kelly Mantle) had a producer come to the hotel to look at her runways. She knew from their reactions she didn't have a real chance of winning (she talks about this in Willam's podcast)

I expect Ru can protect his favorites (Symone, Lawrence Cheney, Kandy, for example...) and I expect most seasons are cast with a top 4 (maybe even a top 2) in mind and its everybody else's opportunity to prove them wrong/right. Ru thought Trixie in s7 would be a real contender but said in his podcast that Trixie in person didn't live up to expectations from her audition so she got the chop

I love Drag Race herstory so much, I could go on forever :nick:

For me Ra'Jah just killed it this season. If anyone deserves to be called rudemption queen it's her. No doubt Kylie, Eureka and Ginger also deserve the crown, they all did amazing. Ra'Jah's Drag Tots performance though really made it clear for me. She exudes positive energy and is very authentic with being so. Watching her in this season didn't even feel like she's is competing. She walked through, came through and was just very kind to everyone in the most unselfish way I have seen a queen doing it.

My top pick is Ra'jah, she really has shown how much she has grown since her last season but I wouldn't mind Kylie or Ginger:sis:

Same! :nick:

and yeah, I think Ru has a say in the top 3/4 for sure. He admitted on his podcast with Michelle that he only kept Pearl around because she was a hot guy, which suggests that it was an active decision.
