Australians riot because of lockdown

These protesters should be celebrating their country held out this long.

I do think think these crazy protestors make things worse with actions like this but tbh i dont think they are totally off point at this point

 

Both Australia and NZ have had the habit of going into lockdowns immediately when cases are still low often attempting to erradicate it

 

Given Covid is expected to becone endemic globaly it is a strategy that no longer makes any sense. Youd have to keep doing lockdowns forever on and off and off unless u were prepared to keep borders closed completely forever and not just to tourism but supply chains too

 

Covid is here to stay so we have to learn to live it with it. Lockdowns can be a toll to control spread when numbers and hospitalizations get out of control but realistically trying to keep doing them to keep rates extremely low will not be sustainable

An early lockdown would've probably prevented the now 800+ daily cases in New South Wales. Queensland did it and now it's at 0 daily cases. 

Obviously lockdowns and 0 Covid isn't sustainable in the long run but we just haven't had the vaccine supply and numbers to make it 'livable' with yet. I'm yet to be offered a vaccine. 

Once everyone in the country has had the chance to be vaccinated though I don't expect anymore lockdowns.

I live in Slovakia and we have riots particularly every day because of vaccination, testing and COVID as such. People are dumb and this I love book more than humans beings.

Yeah if it had been done early perhaps but it wasnt and now endomic permanent virus is the reality so theres no point in trying to make lockdowns in the long trying to get 0 or near 0 cases cuz even if u achieve it, it will just come back, its not a long term answer anymore

 

But good point about vaccines, i forgot how behind Australia is on them so ur point makes sense. But yeah once more ppl get vaccinated i say lockdowns are pointless cuz 0 cases will never stay at 0 for long. The whole world would have to try to do that at once which they wont so

Australia and particularly New Zealand did very well managing covid, but both countries vaccine roll out has been incredibly slow.

It's not going away, so you either live with permanently closed borders and repeat lockdowns or do what I believe what NZ are doing and moving towards a more middle ground once more people are vaccinated

I've already reached my breaking point pandemic-wise. I lashed out, screamed, cried, and had my moment. Then I picked myself off the floor and dealt with it instead of making it other people's problem. Why? Because I'm an adult and intelligent enough to know better. Which they, obviously, are not.

Why all this generalization? "A few australians riot" would be way fair. These scum is all over the world and in every single country, but don't forget it's always a small part of the population. With all these posts it seems we try to criminalize australians in this case, but don't forget these guys are also in your country. And luckily, despite being lousy as hell, they are never a majority
