Demi Lovato isn't putting restrictions on how they might identify themself in the future. The singer came out as nonbinary in May, but during during The 19th Represents Summit, Lovato explained how they are on a gender "journey forever."

"There might be a time where I identify as trans. I don't know what this looks like for me. There might be a time where I identify as non-binary and gender nonconforming my entire life. Or maybe there's a period of time when I get older that I identify as a woman, I don't know what that looks like, but for me, in this moment right now, this is how I identify. And I have a feeling that it's not going to ever go back to one way or the other, but I just, it's about keeping it open and free and just I'm a very fluid person, and so that goes with how I express myself as well."

that's a great point of view! as we travel through time and space, we grow in ourselves until we outgrow our past selves. our own perception of gender is everevolving

I’m someone who’s followed Demi through the years, the highs and lows. Gained respect for them and lost it and vice versa. My worry with Demi is their inconsistency has proved quite prevalent in the past and this current statement just makes me feel like they’re having an identity crisis more than anything. There’s nothing wrong with that and you can always ask for help. But damn, we gonna jump the ship to “trans” possibly? I can’t take someone seriously when their actions and words lack consistency. And while yes we can certainly change how we identify as time goes on, but do they really need to put it out there when that time hasn’t come yet? Live an organic life and let things happen when they do, speaking about identity like it’s a menu makes them sound pretentious.

So proud of them! Personally, my gender is constant but I respect those that are open to exploring and are so open about it. Young people ... Hell all people need to hear things like this so they know they are not alone.

Kudos Demi :applause:

I’m not gonna say anything. I’m not gonna say anything. I am NOT gonna say anything. :icega:

You could just not say anything instead of saying you won't :interestinga:

That's like me going to your profile and posting "I'm not going to wp you. I'm not going to wp you. I'm NOT going to wp you." :ohwell:

You're stinky
