I love Lorde but I've just listened to the album and it has a few gems on it but Melodrama was so much better. Honestly I think the LDR's most recent releases are what make the record feel less fresh. We have forgotten our public MANNERS
CyanLights 15,576
How did the album compare to the lead? I wasn’t a fan of the lead (too low key and slow for my liking) but I enjoyed her first two albums
Pennywise 36,079
I've been listening and my fave so far is Fallen Fruit So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

All of the album is slow, there are no "bops" but it has great songs. I say give it a go tbh. Soft, soothing, and succulent

Ziggy 11,792
I don’t need bops bops bops or expect that from Lorde but the album, I think, needed to change the dynamic up once or twice. The album, while pretty, didn’t feel super developed in parts. There’s some insanely beautiful stuff, but case in point, Melodrama changed things up a few times and THAT is why it’s good not for its bops. I really like Solar Power but I feel like I needed a few changes here and there.
holy scheisse 22,254
I am so saddened by how much this album is a miss for me. Might need to listen multiple times but liike.... It's giving me nothing Maybe I'll like the 2025 album ...
Roughhouse Dandy 11,297
This album affected me in a way no other has done before. I have a genuine, visceral distaste for about half the album and a deep love for the other half. My absolute favorite song also happens to be an interlude-esque track just like my favorite from Melodrama (Leader of a New Regime and Sober II respectively). Mood Ring is a culture shift. Can't wait to hear the bonus tracks if I can ever find them 👀 At the end of the day, I'm glad Lorde is branching out and doing what makes her happy. Whether or not this project is ultimately for me after I listen a few more times, she's shown growth and promise. Her next one is gonna be bonkers; I feel it in my bones. This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

holy scheisse 22,254
I wish she went the ray of light route. Incorporating new age electronic sounds with the acoustic feel. It really feels so one dimensional for me, I'm sorry to hate bc I f*cking love Lorde but like.... I'm so bored omg. And the words aren't gripping me like her older albums. Maybe I'm stuck in the past, or maybe this just really isn't it. I never thought the day would come where I prefer Billie eilish album over a Lorde album Anyway
Jase 13,296
Snoozefest. It's not in the same league as 'Pure Heroine' or 'Melodrama', I guess her former dark electronic shtick was more to my taste. Oh well.
Guest
It's a good album. I can appreciate it. But I probably won't be revisiting it much.

This reminds me of bjork’s Homogenic where Lorde is returning to her home country, unplugging, etc. But Homogenic creates *such* a dynamic palette to exist within so even though it was homogenous, there was a lot to play within the homogeneity. I don’t think Solar Power does that. The Path set things up really nicely to be fascinating on the production side and then it just didn’t really. Not bad but not FASCINATING. The path was beautiful and had me interested but it just kinda unraveled song after song... objectively it's a good album, but it's not fascinating. Very well put. If nothing else, Mood Ring stands out to me as a saving grace
