Helxig 45,737 Posted August 18, 2021 Share Posted August 18, 2021 To update: it's already jumped to 10 cases of delta varient overnight with testing still ongoing. without lockdown this would've easily been in the dozens by now, and continued to spread. So as much as I was shocked by the fast decision last night, I actually now think it was a good thing. Also we went into lockdown because of one community spread case with no links to the border, which indicates that the virus is out there and spreading. Our borders have been pretty locked down but in the mandatory quarantine over the past year there have been plenty of cases identified, but because they were contained we didn't have any lockdowns. It's only if there is untraceable community spread and no contact to the border. So it's not as extreme as headlines are making out. Fingers crossed, if they can find the link to the border and test everyone close to the infected people, we should be back to normal again very soon enjoying concerts and clubbing and having no restrictions like we have for the past year I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
