I don't care about being humane on animals that I ate. Just like my previous point, if I care that much about animal suffering before they died, I won't eat any altogether.  It is all political correctness in the end to make some group of people feel justified to eat those lobsters tbh. IDK what it is, but I witnessed a lot of fellow white folks seems addicted to feel guilty about something, so they gonna find ways to justify things so they won't have feel so guilty anymore. Like, chile.., why some of you seems to enjoy to over complicate things?

Nobody in the UK really buys live lobsters. I live next to a fish Dock & they come in then get shipped off to restaurants and hotels. It'll be legislated & when the commercial checks are done for food standards It'll be checked.

They will likely stop selling live lobsters to retail anyway - not that there's really a market for it.

Ideally no animals should be eaten, but the least people can and should do is to minimise their suffering. Being 'humane' in regards to eating animals mean to at least create a smaller amount of pain. The world won't ever change from eating meat.. unfortunately so, but this is the reality.

The world won't stop eating meating anytime soon but the least y'all can do is not boil them alive ffs. I can't even believe it's such a normalized practice to begin with.

I always saw live lobsters being sold in supermarkets around holidays, I have no idea how popular this is for private households in general, as my family doesn't eat them. I guess there's some market for it since they're still being sold though

Does anyone (from the US in particular) remember the lobster tanks that Walmart used to have? Even as a kid, that didn’t sit right with me.

That's kinda true. They don't have brains  their nervous system is most similar to insects. Very simple and most biologists agree they probably don't feel pain.

For anyone that doesn't know, the "humane" way to kill a lobster is to put it in a cold/ice water bath for 20 minutes which slows down its processes to the point that it's stunned then (for lack of a better word) stab it through the chest  or totally freeze it alive, then when it comes in contact with boiling water it dies instantly. Grisly.

You have to cook it immediately after it's dead though 'cause they're full of dangerous bacteria that spread uninhibited the second it's dead (which is why people boil them alive despite there being no real need to).

Or just don't eat lobster  like me  But I don't like seafood so that's why  I still wouldn't eat lobster if I did though

My grandma used to tell me those were pet lobsters being sold so I spent some time as a kid wanting a pet lobster

Im not sure how much they would really understand of whats happening much less that they are about to die. Even the most intelligent primemates it took a long time for researchers to make one seem to understand what death is

 

I think it comes down more to the pain... if they feel quite a bit of pain, then i think that alone is a good enough reason to ban the practice
