FfFfFfFF 58,371
Boling lobsters alive could be banned under animal welfare plans being drawn up by Government ministers. The Animal Welfare (Sentience) Bill, currently making its way through the House of Lords, only covers animals with a backbone. But the House is making amendments to the legislation which would mean crabs, lobsters, octopuses, squid and other invertebrates are recognised as sentient beings capable of feeling pain. It would give them legal protections and stop fishmongers and chefs boiling crustaceans alive. Instead they would have be stunned or chilled before boiling which is believed to be a more humane way of cooking. Source

RAMROD 117,269
Weird law, they are gonna end up in someone's plate in the end. If they care about being humane, they won't eat those fcking lobsters at all. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

I think the requirement of not boiling animals alive is a bit more realistic to turned into a law...

Would you rather them boil lobsters alive anyway because "they are gonna end up on someone's plate in the end"? Weird take on this tbh

I've always been told that lobsters don't have nerves to feel pain. I would HOPE that just by educating people it would be enough to stop it. It really should be. They have nerves, but their nervous system is quite primary..They have the same nervous system as an insect. They don’t have a brain though..From what I remember I think lobsters have 10 times less nerves than a human

They're still aware of what's happening, I'm wondering what we could say if we applied the same thing to humans, I know there are some humans with conditions that prevent them from feeling pain. I don't think it would make it less horrible if they were burned alive or something. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!
