The religion isn't the problem, radicalization is. I've never said Catholicism isn't misogynistic. Oh and fascism wasn't originated in Catholicism, fascists just claimed it as their own (sure, the Catholic Church supported them but it is a lie to say they are it's source). But at least there has been a Pope who says that he's no one to judge gays, I don't see any other religion even doing that very small thing ever. I don't understand people who think they can defend fundamentalist religions and human rights (such as of women and gays) at the same time. They're complete opposites. BTW u saying that a religion that forces women to wear hoods is just like Christianity/Catholicism (or better than, WTF) is just
Gagaloo911 12,959
This was always going to happen, the US just kept delaying the inevitable and lying to the American people that progress was being made Afghan government was far too corrupt and incapable for anything else to happen, and we've spent over $1 trillion there already so it was time we left. FfFfFfFF 58,118
It's such a sign of division that so many are finding a Republican vs Democrat narrative in this. The military intervention was of the entire US country, and happened during both blue and red administrations. It's a sing of a deeper problem that Americans can't act as a coherent nation and seem to only think through the lenses of their given party. Besides that, I was following the situation there over the past month, and was obvious Taliban was extended more and more. Here is a more detailed map on the situation, which is already outdated:

old sanuk 388
History repeatedly shows that the veneer of progressive society is very thin, and people unwilling to fight for their own freedom and democracy will forfeit same to totalitarian forces. Notice how almost every time the US intervenes in a country’s problems they end up making even more of a mess. And like you said, they didn’t even actually care for the well-being of Afghanistan, they cared as much as they cared for Irak.

The Taliban literally broke the peace treaty only days after it was signed with the US administration not caring. The Biden administration now has to live with the consequences and defend the decisions of the previous administration as if it were their own. Trump's legacy? Trump has been gone for 7 months. Why did Biden withdraw troops out of the country so quickly? Why didn't he use some common sense and decide to keep some Americans there as a peacekeeping force? His actions have made the last 20 years a complete waste of time. I'm not saying Trump wouldn't have made the same mistake had he had the chance, but this one is on Biden. Sorry. StarstruckIllusion 53,564
War is bad, and I’m glad America has finally canceled it’s like longest war ever, and I know this would have happened at any point of time, but this is all so… scary and sad to watch?? We created these conditions, we helped arm the taliban via proxy wars, we decimated the region and killed millions of innocent people throughout the Middle East. Pulling out isn’t the problem. The US shouldn’t be there. The problem is that they were ever there in the first place. The alternative is staying there forever, which literally no one, including Afghanis, want. I can’t stand Biden, but leaving Afghanistan was one of the only things he was ever on track to do correctly and this pro-war coverage is likely going to even undo that. The US should’ve never been there waging an imperialist war for oil while killing countless innocent civilians in the region. The takeaway from this is that US imperialism and meddling on the affairs of other nations only leads to disaster. And as usual you're the first voice of reason in the thread, lol, what would this forum do without people like you. They still don't and refuse to get it. chaeri pls
