Do u think this will work out? After 20 years from different politicians (right and left) nothing has happened. If the US Gov really wants to end it, they could. I am not into conspiracies but this indicates one of these options: 1- They are incompetent and they have been lying about their true purpose in the country 2- They do not know what they are doing there and just holding their grounds for 20 years without a real strategy. 3- Taliban is just so powerful that no military can take over.

Now tell me which of these makes most sense :enigma:

It's none of these, the reality is that the Afghan fighters and military don't have much to lose if the Taliban takes over. They don't really have the will to fight, so they don't. The "lie" is that our military has been telling us this wasn't the case for 20 years, but it was. Just like Vietnam, it became the next administration problem over and over.

But they are taken over by Taliban, they did not choose that. It is not like civilians are asking to be raped and taken as hostages.

The Taliban were walking into cities unopposed. Just because it's not all afganistanis doesn't mean they don't have a large enough swath of support to undermine the afghan government. Even the afghan people that despise the Taliban also oppose the Afghan government as corrupt, so it's a toss up for most men who would be the ones fighting the Taliban defensively.

It's a homophobic, misogynistic religion who doesn't tolerate anything other than them, not an oppressed minority like the PC crowd thinks

All religions are oppressive towards women and LGBT. If everyone in the world wanted to truly be religious and follow it by the book (literally the religious book), then christians would be terrorists, everyone would be a terrorist or a very evil person because the book although it has a bit of poetry and charm in it, with some few kind verses, it also has vile, evil and hateful verses that are shocking and inhumane. But people obviously they ignore that fact and they follow a few verses they like and go on about their day. Those who choose to follow it completely are just following the religion but again peopel can't be put in the same bag for following a religion because everyone does it differently. People gonna go crazy and jump at me but Talibans are just true muslims, they follow the religion from the old old times of Prophet Muhammad. Now I know some will report me for "hateful comment", my family most of them are muslims. The majority of muslims in this world, trust me their heart is not full of hate, just like jewish people or buddhist or christians. It's this false idea in this world that all muslims are just so crazy and extremists, most are not. It's just like any religion really, i dont understand the whole shock value when you mention islam but when u talk bout christianity and their problematic ways no one screams at u or reports u.

My heart breaks for the people of Afghanistan, especially its women & children. This is so upsetting to read.

There’s statements of peaceful intent going around on the internet re: the takeover of power.. I can’t even begin to imagine the horrors taking place on the ground there.. :(

The concept of religion itself should be abolished:yennefer:

Ive always dreamed that we would slowly maybe evolve to have no religion, but I can only picture that happening in many many centuries later but then sometimes I feel like never. Cults, religions, will live on forever, because people are brainwashed, people need spirituality and they don't know how to do it because everything so far is a bit mysterious about this world we live in the unknown, and the unknown doesnt bring comfort, u dont know where ull go when u die, udk if ur here for a reason if ur special if after death ur even here, if it's better than life, and so...if u go thru something so difficult in ur life but ur scared to die....u go to God, it's this natural feeling. Those who love truth will just accept the unknown and find spirituality elsewhere, maybe in themselves or art etc but some people love delusions, they love a good storybook. And i dont judge but i only judge those who causes harm with their own delusional world. u can believe anything u want, but if it causes harm to others then its a problem. The interesting things is when religion is used as politics, they are mixed together, thats when it's tricky and where most people will start putting all religious people in a bag. There are good people who r religious, but because one religion is becoming political it will create more hatred than it needs be in this already sad world

You call them a "misogynistic" religion and then turn a blind eye to Catholicism, that was also responsible for countless fascist regimes that were also very misogynistic, to say the least. The religion isn't the problem, radicalization is.

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Now all of the sudden you have all these people thinking we need to go back in

No time today to wade into the weeds of this debate, though I do have strong opinions on it. What I will point out, however, is that the majority of "these people thinking we need to go back in" never supported the idea of us leaving

After a combined 30 years between the US/ USSR, I think it’s time to let this country become what it is meant to be. We may not like it, but it seems like outside forces cannot change this country into something that it is organically not.

I guess what’s annoying is that there’s never really a “right” option here. There’s always going to be people upset when it comes to foreign affairs.
