Some insiders are griping that the Met Gala, scheduled for Sept. 13, is starting to lose its luster.

“I’ve been told that a lot of influencers are on the guest list.” "Facebook and Instagram have taken so many tables, and that’s put a lot of people off going" one celebrity agent said.

A publicist with A-list clients added: “Personally, I don’t think the Met is cool anymore … It’s gone from super prestigious to [being] full of influencers.”

Because of COVID restrictions, Anna Wintour has had to slash the guest from 600 to 450.

Among the rumored newcomers is Addison Rae and YouTuber Emma Chamberlain.

I long for the day when "influencer" is no longer part of our vocabulary.

Okay but the elitism is showing.

Irrelevant rich people that were not invited cant complain that social media influencers are the "new celebrities" and replaced them lol

Influencers are no different than any of the other celebrities that are always there. They're all just famous people being paid to wear big designer's clothes.

If they serve looks and entertain me, I don't care what their day job is.

I hate the whole idea of the rich and famous world being this untouchable utopia. I dunno but after the pandemic I just can't handle watching rich people gatherings like the met, It's very hunger games and just makes me feel weird. :ladyhaha:

Are you entertained tho? I really just find them annoying and like they keep trying to sell you stuff you don't need.

And then here in Italy people are so proud of Chiara Ferragni, who is supposed to be the first influencer ever. I blame it on her :huntyga:

Oh I mean when they're at the Met Gala. I don't really follow/watch any influencers, but if they wear something awesome at the Gala then yes I will be entertained no matter who they are.
