Twitter's redesign includes new font, less visual clutter

Twitter on Wednesday unveiled a new design for its website, including a new font, higher-contrast colors and less visual clutter. The social media company said the changes are meant to make it easier for people to scroll through text, photos and videos.  

As part of the makeover, Twitter said, it created its own font for the first time, called Chirp. In the past, the company has used typefaces such as SF Pro, Roboto and Helvetica Neue. Twitter said all Western-language text aligns to left, a change that should make it easier for users to read text as they're scrolling through the site.

The site's colors are now higher contrast and less blue so photos and videos on Twitter stand out more. There are also fewer gray backgrounds and divider lines, and the company said it increased space to make text easier to read.

i don’t use twitter that often but it also seems like most of the things i see on my timeline are posts that people i follow have liked, it’s kind of irritating

As a front end developer, these are great UI changes. Its clear user accessibility was the primary goal of it.

I don’t like the new font, it’s harder to read. No one wanted these changes but themselves. everyone wants an edit button, so they are doing everything but adding the edit button.

Everyone keeps complaining about this but I somehow never get them??? I occasionally get promoted stuff sometimes but that's it  have you tried changing your timeline setting to latest tweets instead of Home?

And that you can see the replies people post even to non mutuals. I hate it. I've somehow managed to get serious journalists following me and i hate that they might see me arguing with some Beyonce stan

you can switch modes tho? when you use Live mode youll only get tweets in chronological order & with the Home mode youre getting a curated feed
