Ariana Grande to make more than $20M out of Fortnite concert

Appearing in Fortnite may be one of the most profitable things Ariana Grande has ever done, and it’s all thanks to microtransactions.

According to a Forbes article Travis Scott earned $20 million in merchandise sales from appearing in Fortnite in 2020.

For Ariana Grande, it’s clear that this has the potential to be even more massive than the Travis Scott show and its resulting revenue.
Grande has sold more albums overall than Travis and has a broader fanbase and the game will be filled with specially themed cosmetic items to accompany the concert.
 

As the Forbes article points out, not only are Fortnite concerts highly profitable but they involve very little work compared to a physical event.

Travis Scott’s Fortnite appearance lasted a mere 9 minutes, which required no practicing or physical effort on the artist’s part (except perhaps motion capture, although it’s unclear if Travis Scott or Ariana Grande actually do that themselves).
