She has many problematic behaviors in the past, with subject as sensitive as the Royal Family, you can bet some **** storm might happen in this campaign season. Spencer was always going to be polarizing to the GP-so was Jackie. Little Monsters really need to get off Kristen's neck. She's grown up a lot (she was a troubled child star at one point, but she's 30 something now) and she's an art house/indie darling and she's handling the campaign very well (even Lainey Gossip was remarking on how well Kristen was handling it)—film twitter/film critics aren't NOT going to like it if monsters get all nasty about her on twitter. She might not be popular with the GP (tho lesbians/hipsters love her), but she's really loved by the film community and she made some pro union comments which made people even more favorable towards her (very few big stars have commented on IATSE). Monsters are doing Gaga no favors bringing up Woody Allen. Half of Hollywood, from Colin Firth to Emma Stone, have worked with him and Kristen eventually said it was a mistake. Bringing up Woody is just going to make people think of R. Kelly. And I wouldn't use ONTD as some benchmarker for her because that site hates women-including Gaga-at this point and half of the people who post about her on there are angry Rob Pattinson fans who never got over her cheating on him a decade ago. She's absolutely the favorite to win. She has the Palm Springs and Gotham Spotlight awards. It's still early and Gaga, Cruz, or Tessa could win but Kristen's made her way through the media blitz before the premiere without any big missteps so it's unlikely anything will happen on that end...with an art house film like Spencer (and someone like Kristen who isn't into giving interviews) it's unlikely she'll do more than a few interviews at most now that the film has been released. Jackie (by Larraín) has only a 60% audience score. Spencer now is at 63%. Unless it completely bombs at the specialty box office, it won't hurt Kristen's chances at winning (she's guaranteed a nomination). What will hurt Kristen's chances is she peaked very early in the awards race....sort of like Gaga did with ASIB. I made a long as* Russian novel length post above about how monsters need to get off KStew's neck (they don't have to like her, but I follow a lot of film twitter, etc. accounts & people are started to notice/get annoyed at monsters basically talking sh*t on her for no reason). I don't think it matters what the public think as much tbh - natalie portman still got nominated for 'jackie' and she 100% would have won if emma stone wasn't nominated for la la land that same year. It's safe to say though that the critics and academy will eat 'Spencer' up like they've done with 'The Crown'. I'd honestly be shocked if Kristen doesn't win tbh...like i can't see who else would take it at this point? I mean yes, there's competition from Gaga, Chastain, Cruz, Colman, Mcdormand (if she's lead)...but Kristen has the advantage of playing a real-life figure that people genuinely care about and root for. Also it's the type of role the academy generally favours/leans towards - it could potentially be the same thing that happened with renee zellwegger in judy a couple years ago. you can serve it to me ancient city style... What might hinder Kristen is that it's harder to win if the film isn't nominated for best picture (it does happen, occasionally, like Still Alice wasn't nominated for best pic but Julianne still won). Spencer has a 50/50 shot of being nominated for best pictures as even the good reviews think there are some issues (I've seen a lot say it's very good, but not great) and most see it more a showcase for the star. Also, Cruz (even though she won once before) and Chastain have the overdue narrative.

Also, Cruz (even though she won once before) and Chastain have the overdue narrative. i honestly don't think spencer needs to get in for best picture though? i think the film itself as visually stunning as it looks is a performance showcase if anything. kristen transforming into diana alone could take the win unless we see another actress steal the show. the reason i can't see anyone taking it from kristen atm is because: Gaga: we haven't got official reviews yet but she could be kristen's closest competitor. however there's a lot stacked against gaga i think depending on the film, how the audience/critics/academy react to her accent work, the fact she's still new in the acting game etc. Chastain - she's apparently great in tammy faye but there's not enough buzz for the film. McDormand: I'm pretty sure she's going to be great in macbeth but are the academy willing to give her another oscar twice in a row? Colman: apparently she's great in the lost daughter but she won not too long ago? Cruz: won at venice (a strong awards contender indication) but haven't seen major buzz as of yet. i can only see two of these nominees above being nominated for BOTH actress/picture excluding kristen and that's gaga and mcdormand. the others are quite a long shot although that could change as the season goes. also renee zellwegger, cate blanchett, meryl streep and julianne moore (as you said) still won best actress during the last decade without their films being nominated. you can serve it to me ancient city style... Joey's reliable (he writes for major outlets) and said it was lifting next week. I still wouldn't worry, though, unless the embargo holds past the 15th (and even then, that might be okay...the real red flag is if it lifts a day or two before it opens).
