Not true. They all suffer from "okay" scripts. Only Kristen Stewart has that advantage.

But Bradley Cooper who had like a 95% score lost to Rami Malek whose movie is like at 50+%.

The critics are also praising the other movies more than HOG (apart from Chastain) Look at their RT scores:

Olivia Colman - The Lost Daughter 92%

Frances McDormand - Tragedy of Macbeth 98%

Alana Haim - Licorice Pizza 94%

Jessica Chastain - The Eyes Tammy Faye  67%

Nicole Kidman - TBD (but it’s looking strong for her)

I’m not saying Gaga can’t get in. All I’m saying is don’t expect a nomination because you might be disappointed come early next year if they don’t call her name out. She 100% still has a chance but her road to a nomination just got a lot harder compared to ASIB.

And yes you’re right about Malek beating Cooper in 2019 but let’s not forget that Malek was playing an iconic musician whose well-known, loved and admired which most likely sentimentally swayed voters.

Gaga doesn’t have that advantage as the audience aren’t meant to root for Reggiani as they do with say Freddie Mercury.

you can serve it to me ancient city style...

They're praising my queen and that's all that matters to me. Second "big" movie and she's up there with established and professional actressess.

As for the movie, I'll judge for myself. In Italy we don't have this strong and life depended opinions on critics like americans seem to have. We don't care. We don't even have a metacritic thing or something like that.

Sadly we aren't Swifties that would support Gaga no matter what, even it's a legit great project, it's sad but it's true. Some little monsters only get but don't give.

Monsters are coward and too depending from other fanbases' opinions. If the movie is going to do well in the first weeks then they'll go to see it. We once were the leaders, now we are the sheep.

Honestly, I think you should go and see it... Who cares about what critics say? I went a few days ago and really enjoyed it.

Even if you don't like certain aspects of the movie, Gaga's performance it's totally worth it... I have tickets to watch it again this Thursday with some friends. She's so good in it!

No spoilers, but I went not knowing what to expect, even with the trailers and she really nailed it since that first scene :hor:

It's not perfect but it's entertaining...

If House if Coochie flops and kills Gar’s chances at award nominations it just means we move on to the next project sooner. Issa win win, babes. Red carpet looks weren’t giving this era anyway.

The reviews for HOG are obviously mixed but with much praise for Gaga. (Owen Gleiberman's review in Variety is a flat out rave. An important review from a respected critic.)
Looking forward to box office, RT verified audience score and Cinemascore.
And Gaga is definitely in the awards conversation. Another best actress nomination would be incredible! The actors who vote the acting nominations have their own perspective - AMPAS members go their own way.

Do CinemaScores differ much from general critic reviews? If so, in what way, how is the metric calculated?

The way some of y’all think Gaga’s acting career will be hurt by these mixed reviews is laughable tbh

Barbra Streisand’s second movie is 51%

Cher’s second movie is 56%

Yet they went on to have amazing acting careers that most actors can only dream of.

A movie as campy as this will obviously have divided opinions, the only thing that matters is that even the negative reviews are praising Gaga.

But its a fun movie. I've seen it. Gonna buy another ticket just to count for the opening. If this doesn't do 12M+ (3-days) honestly Gaga should delay LG8 by 5 years.

What...
