RAMROD 117,019
The WHO wants to audit laboratories in the area where the virus was first identified. But Zeng Yixin, deputy health minister, said this showed "disrespect for common sense and arrogance toward science". WHO experts said it was very unlikely the virus escaped from a Chinese lab, but the theory has endured. Investigators were able to visit Wuhan - the city where the virus was first detected in December 2019 - in January of this year. But earlier this month, WHO head Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus outlined the terms of the inquiry's next phase. This included looking at certain science research institutions. He has now called on China to be more co-operative about the early stages of the outbreak. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Mr Zeng said he was extremely surprised by the WHO proposal because it focused on alleged violations of China's laboratory protocols. He said it was "impossible" for China to accept the terms, adding that the country had submitted its own origins-tracing recommendations. Jill 31,812
To be fair, one could argue it isn't fair for China to be the subject of this much scrutiny without almost any evidence the virus actually originated there. If the WHO experts say it is "unlikely" for the virus to have escaped from Chinese labs, then why are they insisting on investigating? Don't get me wrong, I'd also like to know the extent of Chinese involvement but I also think that this can become a slippery slope that may end in China being unnecessarily vilified. China should be vilified in many forms, but we shouldn't let this be one of them. Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC). ProfessionalClown 10,647
This is kinda sus tbh. I mean the WHO is just asking to stop the rumors of it coming from a lab. Doing this makes it sound like it really did come from a lab to all those people and will give them ammo.

TimisaMonster 31,073
Ok China...way to look even more suspect when just going through would prove your case innocent... But if you really had no involvement...you have nothing to hide...this is the opposite Their early history of trying to silence people should be proof enough they knew it had gotten out/was spreading and intentionally did nothing Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! Lilmonzter 2,864
Off course it is suspect and earlier a Chinese virologist, Dr Li Meng Yan came out supporting Wihan lab leak theory and suggested that Dr Fauci knew more than he was pretending. Even if this virus did not come from a lab this time, they have proven that when it does, they will do absolutely nothing to prevent spread globally and will cover it up as long as they can until it’s way to late. They shouldn’t even be allowed to have research that could be remotely dangerous conducted in their country if this is how they will act. Anything with global implications of this scale needs 100% transparency or everyone is at risk.
