FfFfFfFF 58,058
Diamonds and other gemstones might be beautiful, but the mining industry is harmful to the environment. Additionally, around 25% of diamonds sold today are “blood diamonds,” meaning they are sourced from slavery and conflict. However, one artist in China is creating an alternative product that allows you to wear some sparkle, guilt-free. They’re creating colorful gemstones from broken glass bottles. The artist transforms shards of broken glass into imitation sapphires and emeralds that look just like the real deal. The jeweler uses a rotary tool to reshape and polish the shattered glass, before setting the sparkling gemstone into a metal band. The finished glass rings sparkle just as bright as a real gemstone would to the naked eye. Source

RAMROD 116,992
This is worthless "diamonds" tho right? I don't like gemstones that much, but pretty sure hobbyists/enthusiasts will take this as such. People who enjoy gems are liking it for the prestige and how rare, and hence valuable, some of them are. While this one is no different than those fake diamond rings for kids that everyone can get. They're still gonna be precious. Mining isn't great Bezos or not. At least with this technology we can have pretty things without wrecking the earth as much. weed 78,870
Very talented looks beautiful I don’t see how the price will benefit consumers if the artist/worker is getting paid properly, but it’s good for fighting the gem mining industry ig
