Being famous does not justify that actions, cos first and foremost, she is a human who wishes for personal space too. People don't have to act selfish and uncultured like that, even if you are a fan. Imagine if there are all the strangers swarmed around you and treating you like a circus animal, shoving cameras right at your face, that is really uncomfortable situation to be in and mood killer. In the video, she seems to have tried her best to keep her composure when people blocks her way out. If that was anyone else, they would already ask you to F off. Honestly, I would escape too. I agree with you, which is why they should have expected it wouldn’t go over as planned

I've been to Giorgio Baldi when Rihanna was there and staff absolutely intercepted people who were trying to follow her in/go to her table when she was dining (after she was done, though, she signed and took some photos with some patrons). I don't know how accurate it is, but allegedly they were maybe having a party for Tony so that might have been why she left (or it's possible it was scheduled at that restaurant and his health prevented it). Big emphasis on the "allegedly" part though as it was just a random tweet....she could have easily left because she was being swarmed.

brennan731 86
8 hours ago, rpvee said: What a night! Gaga’s set was fire. Pure energy, humor, heart, and of course, vocals! She’s clearly in her element with jazz and it seems to be the direction she wants to keep going in - more serious, while actively pursuing an acting career, etc. Tony sounded amazing for his age. Some weak notes, as to be expected, but he nailed several and can still get LOUD. Tony’s condition was pretty clear, sadly. He did remember all his lyrics except one line of The Lady Is A Tramp, but the songs in his solo set weren’t longer than a minute or two each, and the only words he said to the audience were “wow!”, “beautiful!”, and “what a great audience!”. He stayed center stage leaning against the piano the whole time, except for an occasional slow spin to acknowledge the large band and orchestra. During his set with Gaga, Gaga seemed to guide him and whisper directions in his ear at times. For example, she sang happy birthday to him, and his gaze wandered to another part of the stage opposite her so she hurried over to be next to him where he was looking. During the final bows, Gaga said things along the lines of “ladies and gentlemen, Tony Bennett!” a couple times, and you would’ve expected him to say something about Gaga in return, but he didn’t (he only said her name once, when she entered for their duo set). Still, for a 95 year old fighting the illness he has, he really shined bright for what is probably his last ever performance. Gaga truly understood the magnitude and significance of the evening. Before the encore, as the curtain came down maybe a bit early, she said “ladies and gentlemen, for the last time ever, Tony Bennett!”. Especially powerful was when she offered to walk Tony off stage for the last time. Seeing a living legend like him exit a stage for the final time was surreal and emotional. The stage door was chaotic. Tony came out first, and we all sang happy birthday to him before he walked down the stairs onto the sidewalk. He surprisingly stopped to sign one thing for somebody - who must’ve been the luckiest person of the evening - and also waved to everyone. Then Gaga came out just as Tony and his wife were getting into their car, and the screams were deafening. Gaga immediately got into her car on the side opposite the crowd, and rolled down her window as the car started to pull away after a lot of begging from the throng of people. The moment the window moved, it became a mob chasing the car, which quickly sped up. Bummer that no one signed (except for that one person who insanely luckily got Tony’s), and bummer there likely won’t ever be a chance for Tony again, but hardly a dent on the evening. Other random notes - yes, Bill Clinton was there, and he got a very loud standing ovation as he entered. The line for the merch was crazy long - as reported, it was only shirts and the poster (which they must’ve printed more of, as tonight’s were numbered /750). The crowd was clearly split between Gaga fans and Tony’s older generation of fans, and I was disappointed at how many younger people I saw come and go for the bathroom and refreshments during Tony’s set - a legend’s last ever performance on a stage with occasionally too much traffic in the aisles. That said, Tony got a standing ovation after every song, and the majority of the audience clearly respected him and the significance of the evening. As a whole, an incredible evening of art, and a stunner of a finale for Tony Bennett’s legendary career. Thank goodness I wasn’t the only one thinking that the constant roaming the aisles for drinks was honestly disgusting. I saw a guy pass to get him and his girlfriend drinks almost every 5 minutes. Like honestly what is the point of even going? I honestly think the phone free show was a great idea because I feel a lot of people would just be on their phones the bulk of the show. brennan731 86
Okay so, here’s my review: Pre Show: Arriving at Radio City there were no protestors (thank god, didn’t feel like dealing with that BS.) Got there right before doors opened because I wanted to get my merchandise without waiting/being sold out. At the merch stand on ground level they had about 3 people working. When it started to get longer they started to wrap the line down the staircase. And as they were doing that said, “oh by the way, there’s another stand down in the basement…” I was like why the hell wasnt that initially said lol. There was no one in line down there! Got my merch and a drink and then went to my seat. I was in the orchestra on the far left but still incredible view! Radio City doesn’t really have a bad seat (at least when it came to the orchestra.) Crew seemed to be a little all over the place when first getting there (wires and lights still getting fixed and replaced) but time honestly flew even though I was by myself and phone was in a Yondr pouch! I was right near the door to backstage so I kept seeing members of Gaga’s team go back and forth! And that also meant that I saw any VIP’s that were heading to the show! About 15 minutes prior to the start, Bill Clinton walked past and almost immediately got a round of applause and standing ovation. That was the only celeb that I noticed. Gaga’s parents were also in attendance. —————- The Show: The lights dimmed after an announcement that the show will be recorded for television and then the screens showed a brief 1 minute video intro. Clips shown from an interview that Gaga did with Tony for his Duets album and also had clips of recording Love for Sale. Once that ended, you heard over the speakers, “This is Tony Bennett, ladies and gentleman the incredible, Lady Gaga” The curtain rose and Gaga was on stage right in a big white fur boa, and dress. She was posed and audience went nuts. After a long standing ovation (first of a bunch) and applause. She began singing “Luck Be a Lady.” And pretty quickly acknowledged Bill Clinton adding “Hey, Mr. President” in between some of the opening lines. I have seen Gaga plenty of times, but never seen her with a jazz set. She seemed just insanely at home and you could tell missed performing. Her shuffling across the stage and just all out having a good time. I don’t know if I have seen this energy from her in a long long time. It was beyond refreshing. “Orange Colored Sky” & “Call Me Irresponsible” were next and both were fantastic and in the same vain as “Luck Be a Lady.” Things slowed down when Gaga sung o“Someone to Watch Over Me.” She dedicated it to Tony because “Tony always watched over me, and he didn’t have to.” People we’re pretty emotional, at this song in particular. She sang “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” and then went off stage for a brief outfit change! Brian Newman, his band and the orchestra played for a bit. As soon as she came out she began “Bang Bang.” People couldn’t have been more thrilled. Standing ovation after this one! She talked/joked about how she wants to be cremated (burned as she said, like a cigarette) when she passes “in an 8 ft marble vase with flowers all around it” and wants to have “Coquette” be played at her funeral. So that was next. Some of the audience around me couldn’t tell what is happening. Before she performed “What a Difference a Day Makes” she spoke about how tough the past year and a half has been and cannot believe how the strong the human spirit was to get through. She dedicated the song to all nurses and professionals who helped us through Covid. This song was truly a highlight for me. I don’t know if there was a dry eye after this one. Plus she thanked all of us and the public for standing by her through her whole career. (side note: woman in the row in front of me, immediately started sobbing when she started singing this, and all around her patted her back and made sure she was okay and she said the song is personal to her. It’s this human connection and communal experience that I have missed so much during the last 18 months) “La Vie en Rose.” Standing ovation before the song even ended. Need I say more? And of course she ended her set with “New York, New York.” And my god if this wasn’t a highlight idk what was everyone was on their feet and dancing and singing with her. A couple near me even got out in the aisle and started dancing. Curtains closed as she amped the audience up for Tony (She did this throughout her set). A quick change of band and audio clip played introducing Tony (sounded like when he first started his career, like a talk show). Curtain rose and there was Tony standing next to the piano with his arms wide open in the air. Huge standing ovation! Tony’s set was incredible for me. I’m not going to go in to deep detail with it, but wow he’s still got it. After every song there was a standing ovation (very well deserved). After her performed “Fly Me to the Moon,” Gaga came out and immediately Tony said “Gaga!” They performed three duets. And then as the curtain fell, it rose again for Tony to perform “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” Whew what a moment, as he ended Gaga came back out and asked Tony if she could escort him off the stage “one last time.” It was honestly a bit heartbreaking but tied the whole night together and it’s inevitable. Tony lived a full life and Gaga really made sure this night highlighted their bond and his long career. I cannot wait for everyone to see it. The night will live with me forever. I'm pretty sure Tony went straight home. 95, with alzheimer's and after performing a show w.. tonybennettfan 50
Hi everyone. To clarify, I’m here as a Tony Bennett fan with immense respect for Lady Gaga’s undeniable skill as a jazz singer. The announcement of Tony’s retirement caught me off guard and made me heartbroken I missed the August 5, 2021 Radio City show. It had been my intention for years now to be at his final show, and because they didn’t explain or bill the show properly as his final concerts EVER, I missed it. I was lucky enough to be at his final solo show back on March 11, 2020 however, so that’s a pretty darn good consolation prize, but I’m still really heartbroken I missed it and I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. I wanted to ask—I know they filmed both shows for an upcoming TV special, but that will be cut together from both shows (very likely that Tony’s set will have to be a heavy combo of mixed takes from each night) Does anybody here know of an audience capture (audio-video) of the August 5, 2021 concert? It’s really so, so important to me to have a recording of Tony’s final show. I know they had the Yondr pouches but it’s honestly so easy to bypass that and this being such a huge event I’m certain somebody out there recorded it. I just don’t know where to look or find them. There aren’t any Tony Bennett forums out there so I decided to try some of the Lady Gaga forums. Any help at all is so greatly appreciated. This is extremely important to me. Thank you to anyone who can help.
