Unfortunately it will never materialise,Some people wont move on.

Baptiste 76
source:http://www.marketwatch.com/story/eus-reding-wants-united-states-of-europe-report-2012-12-09 (There way more detailed articles, but they are mostly in German ) IMO Europe should be one country. The only problem is the language problem. But Europe could be a country with a lot languages. I'm proud to be an European citizen Preach it. Je suis fier d'être européen. (Herman, Oslo 2012 ! ) As if the monetary crisis didn't prove it enough that it is a bad idea for one same currency and in alliance. No way. That's the exact opposite. The crisis shows that we need to keep building the European Union to be stronger. That's an important period for the EU : thanks the crisis, we have the obligation to improve our institutions. At the moment, people are focused on the bad points but that's because we are at the heart of the worst recent crisis. Don't forget that Spain/Portugal/Greece/etc are strong countries because of their integration. And look at what's happening in Poland. They all make the most of the integration. Those people who can't stop complaining don't realize the impact of the EU in their lifes. Disrespectuf f***s. In France, a lot of people don't even vote for the european elections, and then they critisize. How pathetic. People want all the advantages (subventions, protection, etc) but they can't accept the counterparties (reforms, harmonization, etc). History ? Serious ? The idea of a european civilization isn't new. Look at the Roman Empire ... the Carolingian Empire ... the Holy Roman Empire ... All those empires are UE's orgins. That's not only a question of money (even if that's the English position ... but if they want to leave the UE, that ok. Just remember that they didn't want to integrate the CECA at the beginning, but they changed their mind a few years later [because they understood it was impossible to remain isolated from the continent] and De Gaulle was against so they had to wait). That's more. No wonder the Union just received a Nobel prize. And I hope you are aware a country can be a federation with different languages and cultures. Since the beginning, the EU is something exceptionnal. I hope we'll continue to improve our amazing project : connect people regardless of their nationality, religion, beliefs ... There ain't no other area with a similar situation around the world, people should be more tolerant. What's happening since the end of the WW2 is unbelievable. I doubt other regions could do the same ... Just think about it. http://28.media.tumb...znnayo1_400.gif Edited December 15, 2012 by BGC
