Melech 9,900
No, please no. The EU is alright, but that's it. I think it's good to have so many different countries. They're all special in their own way. When they get mixed up into one giant thing...no Problem: Which language is the official language of this huge country? I don't think that all countries (and the citizens) are able to agree on speaking only french for example or maybe english etc. And that may be the smallest problem I'm not here for some European Government... I really don't want any of this to happen. Look at India or South Africia. They have a lot official languages.

I'm not here for some European Government... I really don't want any of this to happen. Alternativ für Deutschland tbh. I don't get why people are so rude with this idea. It's such an amazing project and old idea. People want more Europe when they need it, but then, they blame Europe for everything. Look at Iceland. At the heart of the crisis, they wanted to join the EU and the Eurozone. Now, they stopped the discussions because the economical situation is way better than it was in the past. Wtf ? That's so disrespectful ! I can't with the countries which try to get all the benefits but not all the other conditions required. Money, money, money ... :admin2:
mic 1,415
It's impossible. European countries may be smaller than US states, but their cultures are very different. Compare Germany to Romania or UK to Poland. These are completely different worlds. The societies are very different, nowadays in Poland tons of young morons are having extreme nationalist views. Antidote 95
Look at India or South Africia. They have a lot official languages. Yes, true. I just wanted to point put that it's easy to say "Let's build this country" but of course it's way more difficult in reality.

Reno 79
It seams something like that, although EU countries can make the laws on their own, but they also must obey EU regulations. Like in the US, some states have different laws, but they still have to obey orders from the US government as i understand.
Antidote 95
Alternativ für Deutschland tbh. Rude. Obviously it's not possible to just discuss something in a normal way. I don't care about money at all, the european states care about it, that's also why they want to unite. My biggest concern is a possible complete change/mix of the law system (because of my job, and of course it would affect a lot of other people) just like I said, that's all. You learn something for years and then you need to do it all over again because the whole thing changes. That's it. Has nothing to do with money. Don't you see the smiley ? By the way, there's nothing "wrong" with Alternativ für Deutschland. Even if I don't share their ideas, I respect people who support it. It's not like I was referring to the NPD ... Don't take offense for that : I'm sorry if you did. The second part of the post was not directly addressed to you. I don't think the law system will change a lot. Firstly, I guess most of the "continental countries" have a similar system. The biggest difference is with some Anglo-Saxon countries which use Common Law. Secondly, a lot of the law already comes from Bruxelles. I heard it's circa 60%. There were also a projet of european BGB/CC. So, I don't think it's the biggest problem. For sure, it won't be easy, but it's possible. There are some things in the french or italian law for example (don't know how they're called in english) that doesn't really exist in german law. And we have the Abstraktionsprinzip for example, other law systems don't, although they don't have the common law. And so on. There are really a lot of differences. Tbh I really look up to Merkel because I'm sure a lot of people told her "oh that's not for girls" when she was young. But she believed in herself and studied physics and became the chancellor. But of course I just don't agree with everything she does, for example this idea with the United States of Europe.

But a united europe would have one economy, currency, president, sport team, music market. All of these things would be the strongest in the whole world. I didn't know it was that large. Do different states from a federation have the same laws ? I think we can conserve the national systems even if we want to evolve to a federal state. In the United States, it's what's happening, right ? I also don't share their ideas.
