I don't think the U.S. is necessarily the most xenophobic, I think a big contributor is the fact that the Republican party has done great at pushing through its people and agenda by pushing legal lines beyond their ethical limits. The past 4 years have pushed new boundaries Democrats try so hard to stay away from in order to garner moderate votes, and Republicans bulldozed through a lot of decorum in order to secure a lasting influence. It is definitely becoming one of the most xenophobic, I know many people who are moving out due to the openness of racism and xenophobia due to normalization of it. Close to half of the country voted for Trump because his slogans were “Build a wall” “Ban muslims” etc... Republican party is not solely to blame tbh, not everyone who voted for him are uneducated. You even have some users here who said they would vote conservative if it protects their financial interests Trying to appeal to right wing people to be centrist has been proven 100 times to be not working. Also, it’s a federal judge so it does kind of dictate what can happen nationwide.
