I've watched the videos and to be very honest..
It doesn't look any different from what happens here in Brazil.
Earlier this month a man got shot in his eye with a rubber bullet by policemen during a protest against Bolsonaro, and lost his sight on that eye. Last month a black woman who was pregnant was murdered during one of the so-called "police operations".
And even though we live in a capitalist country, which btw our president is paving way for most of our state owned companies to become private, the media isn't speaking out on how harmful these things are.
I'll always stand for democracy, but blaming what's happening in Cuba on communism/socialism is dishonest and shows how little people know about those things.

Yes, I did. No, I'm not going to elaborate. Yes, it's 5AM here and I'm barely functioning at this point and yet I'm still looking at this site :air:

People need to stop conflating the communist governments of Cuba, China, and North Korea with the democratic socialism that the left advocates for in the US. This goes for both sides- laymen and tankies alike.

There is a HUGE difference between socialism that preserves the power of a party or ruling elite and a socialism that uplifts workers. Do not get them mixed up. Ironically some of the “capitalist” countries on earth do a better job at providing workers rights than the “communist” countries.

That being said, I wish them all the luck in achieving their goal. The will of the Cuban people needs to be heard.

Yes he did, OMG the audacity to say something like that "Which is why unless I know that I'm hearing from Cubans (and not the ones who benefit from the US imperialism), I won't believe anything I "see" on the net."

There's lot of cubans talking about this, they want freedom!!! there's people being killed by their government in this very moment.

A woman has been taken by the police TODAY. She was talking yesterday about how she saw two men outside her house that were watching her, and now she is a prisoner just for being against the dictatorship.

All police are corrupt, and they never react well to unrest. The embargo has crippled Cuba’s economy, and will continue to do so.  There are thousands of bots fueling right wing support because they’re anti-communists, but in reality republican politicians voted against the best interest of the Cuban people. If they want to help, they need to address the real issue first.

Some protesters are flying the USA flag while protesting against the government for fvcks sake. Tell me about delusion.

And don't be mistaken: the vast majority of people who support these protests so publicly (a good example is Ben Shapiro and the entirety of America's alt-right) don't support them because they want the best for Cubans. They support it because they want communism to fall and for Cuba to become another backyard for US companies to do whatever the fvck they want.

That's the only possible outcome if Cuba becomes capitalist (which it won't, but these people think it will).

It's true though??? The US actively made material conditions in Cuba worse

Girl plus you don't know the idiosyncrasies of high powered elected officials that are in office of Cuban decent like Marco Rubio.

The majority of Cubans in Florida that make the state stay red are for more restrictions and embargos against Cuba. So they have alot of sway of foreign policy towards Cuba when Republicans are in power and even when they are not in power the the power they have in the Senate and Congress.
