Gaga criticisms?

My one criticism is for the fans and it's:

The fans are not very entitled at all. Y'all just can't take criticism because your whole sense of value is somehow tied to Gaga. Literally every star ever has fans who expect things from them and Gaga is no different. I actually think it is insulting that you keep wanting to treat her with kid gloves instead of like the adult woman she is.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

This is true and I didn't think of it this way, but I still think they are moreso ideas and themes that she is communicating as opposed to a story there.

it might be more or less a story, but it's surely storytelling, some revolve around characters and alter egos, or just tell her personal views and feelings about fame, love, coping mechanisms, celebritie culture etc. And if you ask me, is way more interesting that way.
it's like david lynch movies, a lot of people may say they're not proper stories, but it's storytelling.

That she could try to perform different versions of her songs on tours, to switch things up a little bit.

And try to focus more on the second half of her discography (Joanne->Chromatica).

At the Superbowl for exemple we had only 1 song from after 2011.
At Enigma we got 15 songs from the first half of her discography and 2 songs from the second half :( She could definitely cut The Fame/BDR to perform something from the 2nd half like John Wayne/ARUTW or anything tbh

This is something I appreciate a lot about Madonna, Beyonce, Britney, etc... They switch up their songs a little bit each tour and do different renditions, remixes, mashups and all those kinds of things with their hits. Gaga has done such things before (Paparazzi Fernando Garibay Remix, Beautiful Dirty Rich Dirty Freak Remix, Lovegame Monster Ball/MuchMusic Version, Applause at JWT) and sometimes Gaga will implement playing different instruments (most notably, keyboard) into her songs, but otherwise it is not something she does very often. I think it would've been especially cool if she rave-ified some of her pre-ARTPOP hits to fit with the overall theme of the show and maybe even for Joanne country-ified the songs (an example could be performing BTW Country Road version, etc).

excuse me no

I wish she would be more self aware and accepting of her position in the world.

She is one of the biggest stars of all time, one of the wealthiest people in the world, she is hugely respected and has contacts with everyone in the fashion and entertainment industries. She works with her friends and seems to have an extremely supportive team. There is absolutely no valid reason that she isn't consistently putting out the best of the best, mind-blowing content, other than herself holding herself back.

It seems like she's too scared to embrace the megastar "Gaga" that she is. It's like she's ashamed of how successful and powerful she is, so she holds herself back and tries to not acknowledge it. She wants to be some humble girl next door but now she's too attached to the comfort and wealth to give up on the industry. She's scared to fire her friends or tell them to improve. And I guess she feels bad maybe that anything she does might take attention away from real world issues (which I respect).

I just wish she would stop trying to make herself smaller and seem more humble than she is. She worked hard to get to this point, I wish she would embrace it and make the most of it. I think Beyoncé is a great example of how to do it.

I think Gaga is exceptionally self-aware... She's using her massive platform to advocate for MENTAL HEALTH.

Gaga wrote an album about mental illness (Chromatica) - and has talked extensively about her experience, therapy, medication, etc., on Oprah's 2020 Vision Tour, ELLE, SAG-AFTRA Foundation dinner, Morning Joe on MSNBC, Guardian op-ed, Zane Lowe, People TV, CBS Sunday Morning, The Me You Can't See on Apple TV+, teen Mental Health First Aid video, etc.

She said her MISSION is to help erase the stigma of mental illness - and the stigma of psychiatric medication. People are too afraid to seek help. Did you know suicide is the second leading cause of death globally among 15-29-year-olds?

Gaga said she once asked her doctor if she had brain damage because she didn't know what was wrong with her - and he said no, she had some mental issues. She wanted to make sure people understand that there's a wide spectrum and it requires compassion, patience, diligence and respect.

Compassion and respect... Maybe mental health means nothing to you, but Gaga does what she wants, what she thinks is WORTH her time. It's her life!

Maybe pre-ARTPOP but since then she's been deadly silent about absolutely everything. When was the last time she even teased anything? She hasn't even explicitly mentioned this Jazz album has she?

Personally I wish she'd do the opposite and just be more clear about what's going on. Just rough ideas about what her general public plans are for the year or whatever. Maybe casually mention if she's filmed a music video or recorded something, like most artists do. Not everything needs to be a complete secret with constant dead silence.

Why would she? She's learned her lesson.

Case in point: Monsters have mocked Gaga for years because she said in 2013 she'd be the first artist to perform in SPACE, from a Virgin Galactic ship, in 2015. "Another cancelled project!"

For anyone stuck in 2013.... It's July 2021, and no customers have flown - much less perform - on a VG ship. They're doing final test flights this weekend. It's probably a little too late for Gaga anyway... Imagine having a panic attack in space! Please patch the line! :ohno:

Life happens... Nothing ever goes exactly as planned, and that's ok!

I think Gaga made a mistake early on in her career: she got too close to her fans. Perhaps she was lonely, but she couldn't wait to share her hopes and dreams with Monsters, as she would with her friends. Fans are not friends.

Fast forward to 2020, and she's a lot more careful. "I have a lot of dreams and hopes... What I will actually accomplish, I have no idea, but I know that I'll be doing it with the people I love."

Many times her playing the piano in live performances is just for show and what we hear is a backing track (MR Superbowl, for example. If you look closely)

She should only work on what she’s truly passionate about.

If that means focusing on acting, activism and Haus Labs for 5 years until she wants to be an S tier pop star again then so be it.

Yes! Whatever she wants to do. Whatever SHE thinks is worth her time.

She likes to try new things and is good at what she does. Singer, actress, business woman. For all we know she's working on another project. As Rihanna said, she has many passions, some things have to wait. :spin:

Rihanna is, as far as we know, in good health. Gaga isn't. Hopefully she won't have to testify at Dr. Luke-Kesha's trial (set for late 2021, per THR). A 2017 deposition triggered her psychotic break.

My only criticism of Gaga would be those paid meet and greets. They get a big thumbs down from me. I love everything else she does.

Funny, cause Chromatica is her BEST reviewed album (79) to date. Huge improvement over her last pop album from 2013 (61).:ladyhaha:

Hope her next album is anything but dance pop.

So you think she should just give up because her fans are critical? Her fans are not any more critical than any other fanbase. But anyway, why shouldn't we expect the best from her? As I said, she has absolutely everything at her fingertips to make the best art possible, and if she made use of it there wouldn't be complaints. How often do you see Beyoncé fans complaining? Or Taylor fans?

My point is just that the execution is not really good enough for someone of her level. The Stupid Love video for example, why do the costumes look so cheap and why is it so terribly edited? The concept was there, there was enough ambition to think of all the tribes and the overall story, but she was too scared to tell the costume team/editors/directors "this isn't good enough".

They have better fans.

Are you aware that Black Is King is a visual album for her 2019 SOUNDTRACK, The Lion King: The Gift? Bey has not released a studio album since 2016.

What if Gaga had done the same thing? Released a companion soundtrack, with a visual album, to capitalize on the success of ASIB?? They'd known by late Oct 2018 that the soundtrack was a hit. It's not too late to scrap Chromatica... Her last dance pop album didn't do very well.

An album of love ballads would have done sooo well during the pandemic - and won more Grammys!

Monsters would have dragged her to you know where and back. They'd been harassing her for LG6 since ASIB was released! :awesome:

Fire whom? Sarah? Haus Labs is doing amazing, she deserves some credit.

In case you don't know, Sarah has won an Emmy (AHS: Hotel) and not one but 3 Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Awards, most recently for Gaga's 911 Music Video.

Guild awards are voted on by her PEERS. Professional MUAs, not amateurs!

Yes! Not that she can't play piano, but sometimes it's just a backtrack and whatever she's playing is not audible :gum:
