I wanted to add Lana, but quite not sure should we refer to her as a popstar!

When Interscope submits her albums to the Pop category she is a popstar. :firega:

I don't think it's fair (or accurate) to class songwriting as writing the music/instrumentals.

Songwriting is usually referred to as writing the lyrics to a song - whether that's to an existing track, a track you produce/write yourself, or a track that someone makes for you with your input.

This list would look VERY different if you used that definition.

Adele, for example, has written most of her lyrics but not the music. She's still a songwriter. Same goes for Taylor. Her list here is long but if you nail it down to lyrics, it's even longer.

Again, you didn’t read the OP. This thread isn’t about who’s songwriter or who’s not- it’s about who wrote entirely a song. And Adele has written a lot- I just didn’t provide the list.

That’s a wrong information. “A songwriter who mainly writes the lyrics for a song is referred to as a lyricist.”

*A songwriter is a musician who professionally composes musical compositions and writes lyrics for songs.

*Musical composition, music composition or simply composition, can refer to an original piece or work of music, either vocal or instrumental, the structure of a musical piece or to the process of creating or writing a new piece of music.

*Composers of primarily songs are usually called songwriters; with songs, the person who writes lyrics for a song is the lyricist.
