This. Is. Rediculous.

like someone else said. White people tan- not every white person looks like they are from Norway. She has a black wig on- blacK people don’t naturally have straight black hair. If they do, its because they, themselves have a black Wig or have gotten it straightened.

People literally sit around and wait for the next thing to get offended about.

I have met atleast 4 people who are black and have naturally straight hair so thats incorrect also lily singhs says hi

Actually, if you go to cosmetology school you will learn the science behind genetic racial identifications of hair strands . Racially, the hair follicles are different shapes. People from asia have extremely round shaped follicles causing straight hair, while people of African genetics have very flat shaped follicles causing a tighter curl of hair. Any deviation from this is due to racial admixtur, and mixed ancestry. or hair treatment. It’s science.

The problem is, when white people get a tan and then put on full make up and go under special lighting, they can look quite different from how they did before and it can lead to accusations of them trying to exotify themselves but their aim is rarely to look a different race. I've repeatedly said that, apart from very rare instances, most white women who get body modifications are just trying to look like a voluptuous white woman and a better version of themselves, which is perfectly normal. Most beauty standards depend on pumping up and enhancing our features. That will result in a different appearance but it doesn't mean the person is trying to represent a different race. What's really throwing people off in Iggy's case is her black wig. Without that, she really wouldn't look much different and wearing a black wig is definitely not akin to blackfishing as white people can naturally have black hair too. And dark eyes. And a deeper skin tone, especially when tanned. I swear, people need to educate themselves more about the varieties of skin tones within skin tones. White people aren't all pale, blonde and blue eyed with small noses, thin lips, skinny bodies and flat asses. In fact, it is very rare to find a white person who embodies all of that. I especially don't understand where the stereotypes of white people being all skinny with no curves even comes from. The majority of whites aren't that shape. God forbid we pump up what's already there or put focus on certain features we like. Isn't that the whole point of experimenting with beauty? It's not like Iggy is actually trying to convince people she's black. If she was an unknown name posing like this and keeping her ancestry secret, fair enough. But we've known from day one that she's white, she's even mentioned it in her lyrics, so the mere mention of her name in the video title is all the information you need that the singer's white. Anyone who thinks Iggy's anything but white needs to learn what Wikipedia is and get their eyes tested.

Totally, I quickly saw the pic, and thought it was Nicki Minaj for a split second. This is not normal and it needs to stop. Embrace your race, embrace being white, there's nothing wrong with being white. Stop trying to be something you're not. There's a limit seriously, enough!

Thing is, no race is encouraged to embrace their natural beauty, not truly. Every race has beauty standards that go against their natural features that they nevertheless want to replicate. I've always found it sad and concerning that both black and white women are risking cancer by altering their skintone, just through different means, one through skin lightening treatments and the other through the sun and sunbeds. Both are awful and who we really need to point the finger of blame at is the beauty industry for making everyone believe that their natural features are not enough but they'll never stop because their industry would collapse if everyone decided to be happy with the looks they were naturally given. At the very least, at least black women have a movement that encourages them that black is beautiful. White women don't have that because it would be deemed racist if we did. I always shake my head at claims that white women thrive under global beauty standards being based around whiteness because I've rarely met a white girl who's 100% happy with her looks (hair, nose, breasts, thighs, all the usual things that women worldwide battle with) and so many of them think they're ugly when they're not. On the contrary, I've seen many black girls who rank themselves very highly. It just goes to show that we're even victims of our own standards and how ironically, being part of a disadvantaged group can actually lead to self-confidence even as just a defence mechanism.

I think it’s important to note black women having to brighten themselves up is completely different than White women looking more ethnic now. There are NUMEROUS factors that play into this in terms of marketing and Eurocentric beauty standards. The Kardashians are white women who are the prime example of getting work done to have features that are deemed unattractive on black women and are big reason as to why this discussion has been sparked - the double standards of beauty on white/black women

Every race wants to change their natural appearance and white women are caught in the same trap of beauty standards that everyone else is. We want to tan, slim down but stay curvy in the right areas, and have perfect hair as well. As for the whole "these same features are considered unattractive on black women" argument, I can assure you that men find these features attractive on any woman, provided the women in question are young, slim and all-round attractive. And it's the context of the feature as well. Men will find a rotund behind very attractive on all races as long as it's on a slim body and is the result of exercise and healthy living (or maybe surgery). But a rotund behind on a woman who is overweight and therefore, only has said rotund behind because of her all-round body size, that's not considered attractive. It takes more than just having these attractive features to be considered attractive - they've got to be arranged appropriately in the right context. Beauty standards are a finely honed science for sure and most of us don't even realise why we find certain things attractive. Unfortunately, this lack of knowledge leads to us being imprisoned by standards we don't even fully understand even though we made them.
