Do people here really hate rap that much or are you guys just being racist?

How is that a good thing? :bear:

It's neither a good thing nor a bad thing, but racists that hide behind "music taste" use it as an excuse to show their behinds.

Most people here don't listen to anything other than pop music I feel.

Modern “rap” and “hiphop” has taken over the charts for the past several years. And most of it has been low quality. So I’m pleased with this.

I would love to know why not liking rap has anything to do with race? For the most part, rap just isn’t as enjoyable because their lyrics are all about **** no one actually does. It has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Does anyone know when the last time was that there wasn’t a rap song in the top 10?

August 2, 1842 interestingly enough.

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

No one is calling you a racist, these kinds of things are grey areas for a reason, but there is undoubtably racist sentiment being broadcasted when people turn to paint rap, a complex and very broad genre, into a single stereotype.

How can you even mention Mac Miller,

you know nothing of him or his music and for you to say that it’s about “things” people will never experience or relate to shows how much of a boxed in idea of music you have and how narrow minded that is, Mac’s music has so much soul and depth to it, his last three albums specifically, and his earlier works were full of exuberant and energetic stories, there’s more to rap than your idea of it being about, fu**ing b*tches and getting $$$, and I yes, I consider myself a MacHead or Mac Miller Stan so I take offense to this, listen to Circles, Swimming, or the Divine Feminine then come talk.

Yyyyyyyyyeah, I was using him as an example of how rap music isn’t exclusively an African American genre, I wasn’t commenting on his narratives.

Wow this is really interesting. They say this decade but that’s only like a year and a half (unless they’re counting from 2011??) but I’m thinking it’s from like 2016 on. 2016-2018 was the peak of modern rap when it was 9/10 for the top 10. Does anyone know when the last time was that there wasn’t a rap song in the top 10?

That’s off the top of my head https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/2014-12-13

But I’m pretty sure there’s been more and more recently, even excluding the Xmas weeks

I think the reason hip hop still connect with race hardly because it's still new to the market compare to r&b or blue. Anda lot of hip hop song were about street life and political, that one of it's main topic.

To you most of song were about **** that one on actually does, but look at the example you give us... Like you know all your example are white right? Like they got more advantage with their race.

I think what I'm tryna says is, you can't expect people to separate a genre from one of it's main topic, it f*** up.
