Pitchfork reviews BTW 10 Anniversary (7.9)

7.9

Born This Way’s reclaimed confidence goes down to the half-woman, half-machine composite on its cover, a mutant gynoid that screams with the fury of a saint. It’s ridiculous, ugly. People hate it. It’s also a perfectly punkish match for this scrappy colossus of an album, an apex of off-the-leash creativity and unapologetic commerce. It still makes you want to live without the Scheiße—but is just as suited for a world full of it. For an hour it makes you feel like you are made of steel.

Sorcerer

They could've bumped the score a bit to make it 8.0 :crossed:

But the writing in this review is insanely good and well-researched :tony: (except when they wrote "egg" instead of "vessel")

It’s pitchfork. They are generally a bit harder in their reviews and they are known to give odd numbers. I always saw them as a bunch of snobby hipsters but their reviews are generally fair at the end of the day :coffee:

The problem is Pitchfork doesn't actually give out scores like most places do, where the reviewer writing it also gives it a score. Pitchfork surveys a bunch of their team members and then takes the average of a score, which is why a lot of times reviews are more glowing than the actual scores, or vice versa, because only one person writes reviews 💀

That's a great score. So many artists/bands would kill for that score from Pitchfork.

Yeah it’s a pretty great score. I think some of the reimagined songs brought the score down but I digress.

BTW was my first album rollout to follow online and that 0.0 tiny mixtapes review was really hard to swallow :rip: I was legit PISSED lmao

The thing is they never reviewed Born This Way, so this is a review of the whole album.

But why reviewing this instead of the original version? What's the point? Maybe after 10 years they can see the huge mistake they made by not reviewing such an impactful album...
