46% fully vaccinated and 55% with at least one dose, I believe.

I think I got it mixed :air:

It’s effective against the severe effects of it but not against transmission which is the issue bc the delta variant is a crazy amount more transmissible than the regular strain.

I haven’t read studies on transmission and the Delta variant among vaccinated people.

Regardless, this is why everyone needs to be vaccinated.

It's also effective on transmission but not quite as much. It's spreading like wild fire in the 18 to 30 group here who are the least vaccinated. It's not spreading upwards into the higher age categories at a fast pace though. It's trickling through. The connection is certainly weakened.

Its definitely good the vaccines at least prevent severe desiese my concern tho is if the virus still keeps getting trasmited new variants of threat will keep coming and this nightmare will never end

Thats why im pro still exercizing caution to slow spread. Maybe not to the extreme of shutting down businesses anymore but frequent habd washing, masks, social distancing where possible yes

Agreed. I saw that the transmission is 2x or more likely to spread than regular covid and that’s why it’s spread faster across the countries it’s in. I’ll try to find an article for ya :vegas:

Exactly. Viruses are notorious for mutating all the time so transmission in my opinion is just as dangerous tbh

It's definitely a dividing topic but the world leaders have basically decided that covid zero is now an impossibility so where do we draw the line on impact of covid vs impact of restricting peoples lives. Mutations will forever be a possibility just like the way flu mutates. I'm not saying masks restrict people's lives but they are a constant reminder of covid and danger. Especially in Western countries where it wasn't the normal before. I'm wholly against restrictions on businesses, I disagree with social distancing once your vaxxed.  I'm indifferent on masks and once enough people are vaxxed that becomes a personal choice.

Agreed 100%

We cant just take it for granted like some members here suggesting that we have vaccines that prevent severe desiese so were good

Like no, this thing at any moment can create another worse variant and one that vaccines dont work for... not to mention theres countries where vaccine supply is lower and our actions impact them too

I think its rather selfish and shortsided to assume theres no issue and we dont need to be cautious cuz we have vaccines

Vaccines are a powerful tool that can save a lot of lives. They are not whats gonna end this nightmare on their own right now if we factor in all the variables at play here and @HuffsAhoy thats why i have the opinion i do

I can agree that getting cases to 0 will never happen at this point and mutations will keep happening and were not realistically keep restrictions forever

But i just think its way too soon. We really only been at this a year and a half if u think about it... not every Country has vaccines yet either to a meangingful number

I just think were still in a severe point where anything that can be done to help (even a little) should be done

The spanish flu didnt end influenza cases to 0 either and mutations that kept continuing that to this day are still around no doubt survived but the pandemic phase did eventually end just as covid eventually will too

But were not there yet. The world is in a critical condition still. Thats why i think its too soon to just say "im vaxxed so im good, im not gonna exercize any caution anymore"

Thats my opinion. Ppl can disagree. But tbh i think ppl who disagree, disagree based on emotion affecting their opiniom cuz they are just tired. Not because theres no point or benefit on being cautious

Edit: but the restrictions om businesses needing to be relaxed now i agree with tho

I feel cheated for getting vaccinated now, I'm still getting my second dose

I will not, thanks. I'm vaccinated and my masks are retired unless I am at the doctors office.

Although what WHO recommends is not the same as what CDC does.

It’s disgusting how in the US ALONE we’re nearing 700k in deaths and people are still so selfish, and to hear people from all over the world on here who I expected better from, I can’t even. Y’all need to get a grip and realize LIFE isn’t just about YOU.

how exactly is it selfish when i barely left my home for 14 months and when i did i wore a mask every time and now that i’m fully vaxxed like was recommended to me i would not like to wear a mask any longer?

People have been isolated at home for more than a year for the betterment of other people. In a country where the vaccine is available to everyone for free, if you are choosing not to get vaccinated, that is on you. Additionally, WHO is not the CDC. If you are high risk still or not vaccinated, continue to isolate yourself and reduce going out while those who are not high risk can continue with their lives.

I'm not about to be made to be feeling guilty for people in different circumstances holding me to their standards. Get off your high horse.
