However, this led to policy changes by businesses where we are just supposed to BELIEVE everyone not wearing a mask is fully vaccinated. MANY are not and are obviously lying and will be the ones to spread any new variants. Or at least that’s what they say. The vaccine protects you from getting very sick or dying but you can still catch and pass it on to someone. The chances of vaccinated people spreading it are extremely low. Almost negligible. Which is why fully vaccinated people can live normally amongst each other. We got extra shipments early for 2nd doses being given faster cuz the Province wanted to try to control the outbreak of delta before it spread else where But too late. But its sad my city/suburb is always patient zero for covid (theres reasons for that tho) But overall case count keep dropping. 2 months ago my province had 4000+ cases a day, its down to the 300 to 400 a day now. Delta does spread insanely fast we went from a few hundred cases a day straight back up to about 16,000 cases a day in the space of 3 weeks. Like...does this ever end? It’s being over precautious to mitigate transmission, hospitalization, and death. Not everything is black and white in science. There are degrees to public health measures. The vaccines work. They are very efficient. But do we really want to be caught off guard by variants that will lower the vaccine’s efficacy? This + the main goal of the vaccine rollout was to decrease hospitalization so that people who actually need ICUs don't die from lack of space and to give the medical sector a break after a whole year of chaos. Of course they will eventually lead to controlling the virus and limiting its damages greatly through heard immunity and whatnot but this takes time, effort, education, and vigilance. Getting vaxxed isn't an automatic ticket to "normal", especially not with new variants popping up. I don't recall anyone saying the vaccine is a miracle juice that will magically end the pandemic. But alas its not putting people in hospital that's the important thing Thats good if ppl arent being hospitalized Cases dropping tho im sure largely also reflects the 3rd lockdown not just the vaccines... so in reality the vaccines effect here is gonna be tested now that were reopening Im sure cases will rise because even now that were not fully reopened, although overall covid cases keep dropping in Canada and my Province, Delta keeps rising so very soon were probably gonna hit a bottom and rates will rise again. Italy did that and so did the UK and then their cases skyrocketed again. I have a friend in the Isle of Man in the UK and they’ve been covid free for nearly a year and still are.
