Which is why fully vaccinated people can live normally amongst each other. Yea but still doesn’t mean they are not going to ever catch Covid and we don’t have enough data to prove it really can’t be spread. Also keep in mind with future mutations and variants the current vaccines may require more work to keep up

Pretty sure new strains are going to circulate like the flu every year. But the pandemic will probably be over by the end of the year, if not early next year. Catching COVID isn’t an issue if you are vaccinated and protected. Future mutations are an issue which is why more vaccinated people = less spread = less chances of it mutating to something concerning.
Fresco 1,688
I'm trying to get back to normal. I only wear a mask inside when it is posted as required. I still carry a mask so I can put it on if needed. My immune response to the 2nd moderna shot was pretty significant so I feel that I have good protection. Infections in my state have dropped to only about 100 a day, so we aren't outbreaking right now. I'm comfortable without a mask while shopping as long as most people stay 6 feet away. I'm not ready to be with sick people tho. Someone coughed near me in a store and I chewed them out this way and that, in my mind only. (sigh)

RahrahWitch 6,985
We're nearing the end (Hopefully) of the worst part of the pandemic. Until your countries' vaccination process is complete it's best to be safe and just wear your mask in public.
Sneaky Oliver 22,974
Covid or the virus will not disappear from earth. We will always have some cases here and there from now on. Since we’ll be vaccinated, the disease won’t be as severe as it was during pandemic time. I can see us wearing masks for the following years just to avoid bigger spreads, but since there are people ignoring masks and social distancing right now, there will always be a level of spreading somewhere. Kattys 4,319
I am fully vaccinated now, I always wear masks inside. If you are used to it it's not really a problem.

Franch Toast 27,737
For me, being fully vaccinated is like a yellow traffic light: proceed with caution. The CDC and WHO both screwed up their messaging regarding masking early on in the pandemic, so I've never listened to them anyway. I was wearing masks when they said not to and when a lot of people on GGD were saying masks didn't work (I remember getting into debates with a few of you). For me personally, I'll continue to wear masks when shopping for the near future regardless of what either the CDC or WHO say. (Honestly, considering that the WHO won't even recognize Taiwan, f*ck them and their politics.) I don't feel controlled by wearing a mask or like I'm giving up any freedom, but at the same time, since I'm fully vaxxed, at this point, it doesn't bother me if other vaxxed people don't mask up in public. Non-vaxxed people not wearing masks wouldn't bother me except I worry about mutations that eventually will be vaccine-resistant. In any case, even though I mask up when shopping, I still dine out indoors, exercise in a group setting without a mask, and have met up with people outside of my household, so I am not living in fear by any means––quite the opposite, in fact. I even have tickets to see Gwen Stefani in Vegas (in the pit of an indoor theatre) this October. I don't understand why some of y'all assume that people who still mostly wear masks are living in fear or are capitulating to authority. We are not. I'm happy to say that my local hospital has either "one or none" Covid patients according to a nurse to whom I was talking yesterday, which is a record since the pandemic started. Even though my US state is basically fully opened up, we are still making progress and heading in the right direction. She/Her/Hers

Time to start adjusting to a life with coronavirus.
1000DOVES 33
On 6/27/2021 at 5:19 PM, HuffsAhoy said: Its not dramatic, its idiotic. We were told it was only going to be a few weeks, then a few months, now here we are a year later. Then these same 'experts' came out and said, if you're vaxxed still wear one, then only around others, now you don't need to at all. So, yeah enough is enough. Its very disturbing you and a lot of others so willingly bend over backwards, spread your legs, and allow these entities to control you. I'm not letting entities control me. I just want to protect myself and others when going outside or very crowded places. This is new to scientists too, this virus is unpredictable so of course rules will change every time. You all are so dramatic for wearing a damn cloth on your face for a couple hours, in Asian countries like Japan they do that every fall/winter to protect themselves from getting sick. Just wear a mask and you will help save yourself or other people, is as simple as that. I promise you you won't die from wearing a mask but you could if you get the virus.
