I was so turned off by that song like some people say he wasn't objectifying women but I don't know the lyrics felt so shallow in not a good way and rather a turn off. His interviews that era felt so cocky and it highly annoyed me ever since. There's not an original thing about him but he's huge and literally why. Even among male artists, who tend to be boring anyway, he's basic by comparison. All that said, I don't hate the guy I'm happy that his success is at least somewhat justified by the fact that he makes his own music. I just wish he would push the envelope a little (or at all ). And this new single doesn't count 'cause The Weeknd made this whole aesthetic hot, Ed just jumped onto it. What I hate the most is that those generic songs are overplayed to the point that they become maddeningly annoying. But there's a lot of artists that are generally liked here that I'd say the same thing about (for example, if I hear Levitating again I might literally scream ).
