He needs to apologize for everyone else too and donate several lifetimes of wealth to charity before I take him seriously in anything like this. He literally started and perpetuated the rumor that Brittany Murphy was a coke fiend which led to her getting blacklisted but she's dead now so he can't make up for that. No, that was literally just the celebrity climate at the time, no "troll" dignification needed. My parents barely followed any of it but it still seeped into them needlessly having vitriol toward Hollywood "starlets" (that term is so infantilizing) and popstars because the horrible tabloid headlines were literally all over the checkout aisle in grocery stores. Internet trolls weren't really what they are now, if at all. That was just how people consumed celebrity media and its easy for everyone to blame Perez for the vile he spoke but it was all endorsed by the GP at the time.
