The closer we'd get to the center of the galaxy, the faster we'd settle it, since the stars are closer and closer to each other there. The closest alien planet to our solar system is 4.2 million light years from the Earth and 1 year is 6 trillion miles so that's almost 25 trillion miles that these E.T.s are traveling just to visit Idaho.
