I’m turning 30 this year and when the pandemic began I, like most people, struggled to work out and my diet went to poop. I’ve been historically lean and during the bulk of the pandemic I’ve put on about 20 lbs and it’s really hard on my psyche some days. Since I am getting older, I’ve noticed it’s pretty hard to take off, even when I’m eating healthy and exercising.  I know there are a lot of people feeling this way too.

Yep im 29 and its harder to lose it now 😭

Thank you for sharing your experience. I echo all of your sentiments. Been hard turning 30, metabolism slowing down, pandemic impact. Even dieting and decent cardio hasn’t been helping much.

Anyway, in solidarity around screwing the norm of what’s expected of all our bodies. I have seen too many family and friends be hard on themselves. Easier said than done to reframe things in one’s mind when the pressure is all around.

I'm turning 30 in January and I already feel this happening to me. I've always been thin, and I still am, but the past year or so I've struggled to get rid of that last bit of belly fat, even though I'm the healthiest and most active that I've ever been. If I was this healthy and active in my early 20's I would've looked so good. Makes me feel like I took it for granted being young and being able to have abs while eating like sh*t. You really don't know what you've got until it's gone. I'm afraid that 30 is gonna hit like a tonne of bricks... probably gonna cry at my birthday party :ladyhaha:

Going down this rabbit hole a bit further, ageism in the gay community scares me as I get older. I’m smart and I know that you shouldn’t care what people think, but it is a weird transition when people don’t even want to be your friend because you’re older (not that 30 is even old, but there’s still the stigma of basically expiring by the time you reach 30+). I’ve been going through the motions of thinking about this a lot during the past few months and I’m working to accept it, but damn it’s hard.

Every time I think about my impending 30th I feel anxious and depressed. I've never had a relationship and I'm about to turn 30... my 'best years' are behind me and according to the gay community I'm now worthless. I know that I shouldn't feel this way, and I really try not to, but it just feels awful.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

The reality is that older people sometimes are looking for for what they don't have anymore: youth and young generations are becoming less and less interested in character, humor, personality and more and more about looks: if you're young and hot it doesn't matter if you are a terrible person because society has become more superficial.

I agree with everything but the problem isn’t young people. It’s older people refusing to age gracefully and putting their insecurities on people outside of their own peer group. I mean, what does a 30 year old have in common with a 21 year old anyways? This is even more true the wider the age gap. I find it odd that people of a more mature age would  even want to associate with younger people (if not for purely superficial reasons which is THEIR problem).

It's a combination of various factors and I definitely agree too with your perspective. But in general I would absolutely put my hands on fire to affirm that since the prominence of social media, our society has become much more aware of superficial things like how they look and how well or bad their physical is received/perceived by others, how many views or likes they get, how many times they're retweeted, etc.

That’s good to hear! I’m 26, was at my heaviest 4 months ago and now I’m probably at my fittest ever, revealing abs. Keep going

Everyone marches at its own pace. Don't be too hard on yourself. Besides some of us get better with age (I know I did) and I'm sure you'll do great.

I've been noticing this too - I'm turning 31 and I think it's getting harder to loose weight and tone my body. :cryga:

I am 24 so my metabolism is still peaking but I really hope I got my paternal grandfather's genes because I have always been the skinny/lean guy and I don't want to lose that. So far, I see no signs of it slowing down thankfully. I did promise myself to go to the gym if I ever put on weight though.

She looks incredible and the fact she's serving us 3 movies this year, she's iconic.
